A Few Statistical Observations...

Though most power rankings currently have the Dolphins ranked toward the bottom, I think that this team is playing better football than at least half the teams in the NFL. I mean, we were a heartbeat away from being 2-1 right now. Anyway, here is some statistical info to show you what I mean:

Miami is ranked 16th in Total Offense (17th in Rushing, 13th in Passing)

Ranked 17th in Total Defense (11th in Rushing, 25th in Passing)

There are six teams still Winless in the NFL.

There are Nine other teams that are 1-2. They are: CHI, IND, JAX, MIN, NO, NYJ, OAK, SD, and SEA.

Of these Nine teams, the dolphins have scored more points than IND, JAX, MIN, NYJ, and OAK.

Also of the other nine 1-2 teams, we have allowed less points than IND, NYJ, NO, OAK, SEA, and SD.

All of these stats tell me that we are at about the middle of the pack in the NFL right now, not among the bottom feeders. Considering how young our team is, and the fact that this is supposed to be a rebuilding year, i think this is very optimistic news.

The Phins played very sloppy in the Jets game and probably didn't deserve to win. But they SHOULD have won, the opportunities in that fourth quarter were there, and we didn't capitalize. I still think the Jets are a better team, but i think it is a lot more equal than i had expected. I thought the Jets would win 8 games this year and now i don't even think they are capable of that, they are playing horrible. It's really a shame the Phins aren't 2-1 right now.

Thats why I don't agree with power rankings.

Stats are a far better teller of the truth....this week they had the Pats ranked 6th....the Dolphins ranked 30th

The Jets are were ranked 16th...have they played that better than the Dolphins?

The Browns were ranked 22nd...they are 0-3....are they better than the Dolphins? Or the 49ers...or the Falcons?

How about the Ravens...were ranked 20th....who did they beat....the Bengals and the Browns....both 0-3.
