A few Thursday Nite Thoughts...

Yeah, I felt the Redskins were asking more of Beck when he was in there which hurt his stats a little (he took like 3 shots 1 of which he completed). His INT was on a one to one deep shot from his own endzone. Later, granted 2's vs 2's, I thought he looked pretty good. Liked the way he was getting it out of his hand and hitting the WR's in stride.

Heres my take & I know how you feel...

Milk last weeks feel good game for all its worth and think positive about Henne,Bush,Coaching & even Ownership as long as you can because we have only had a handfull of these weeks over the last decade.

Right now...I feel like we will punch the Bucs in the mouth and show up to play. I want to keep that as long as it will last :)

the bucs will be motivated off that pasting by the pats...you can guarantee that

I know, but Cincinnati is killing them too! I know it does not matter.

The Fins looked good and handled their business.

The Fins are also working on a new playbook so hopefully can grow.

Henning is GONE!

1. While I am still positive from the Fins' performance the other night, the Bengals dismantling of Carolina has tempered my enthusiasm. Andy Dalton's stat line is gaudy. Carolina could not do anything vs. Cincy. I am waiting to see what Miami does vs. Tampa.
Anyone want to help me stay positive?

2. Strange to see Ricky in another uniform.

3. Strange to see Ronnie score a TD in another uniform.

4. I hate to say it, but John Beck does not look bad to this point. IF this guy is legit in this league...holy Moses.

Carolina is definitely bad, which tempered my excitement some about last week, they still have much to prove starting this week.

Its going to suck if John Beck makes it in this league, whilst this quarterback hungry team didn't even really give him a shot (with changing organizations and all).

For me, the thing against Carolina, moreso than the success, was the apparent change of philosophy. I loved seeing an offense on attack mode rather than plodding down the field.

Yeah, we're competitive with the other "Tidy Bowl" teams.

Beck threw a scripted first pass beauty deep for 33 yards ... then rolled over & died ... against a struggling Raven defense of all things!!

Was comical ... looked like the 2 teams swapped uniforms ... Washington snuffed them on D repeatedly, then the Washington O gutted them. Joe "I'm one of the great ones too" Flacco looked like Henne last season. Ricky even ran into him picking up the pass rush.

Beck is a pretty good quarterback all things considered...... for me to poop on!!

I dont know, there highlights of Cam running all over Cincy and scoring... all I saw from him when he played was him getting sacked and VD almost ending his season on one scramble. LOL

It's funny that people are bringing up Beck as looking good. He is in a tight race for the starting job with Rex Grossman lol yeah, Rex Grossman...if you have a QB contraversy heading in to week 1, then you have no QB at all.

It's preseason, the same Panther team that got beat by Miami and the Bungles, also did convincingly beat a good Giants team in week 1, does it mean anything....no.

As it was said before, our biggest measuring still will be on Saturday against the Bucs, and even then, don't take it too seriously, because I don't think the Dolphins will be preparing for the Bucs as much as continuing to prepare for week 1 against the Pats in practice. Miami has little time to get ready with it's new offense, so they are going to prepare for the real games, and throw very little out there in pre-season for the Pats to watch and get ready for.

Sparano will just be watching for general effectiveness with a pretty vanilla Offense, and take it from there who makes what mistakes, and who looks better, as well as any position that is still being evaluated (Safety.....RT.....LG....nickle and dime DBs)and go from there.....it's all about and only about the Pats game, remember that when watching the game against the Bucs.

a couple names i saw last night who might be on the chopping block from the skins ravens game...by the way skins first team d looked pretty darn good...flying around to the ball

anyways...

sellers the fb from washington looks to be an odd man out...there was a kid named austin from washington a wr 7th round pick a year ago who was flashing all over the place...jalen parmalee rb ravens who was drafted by us and poached by the ravens years ago who at the time i thought had more upside than lex hilliard looks like he may be on the outs in baltimore

b/t if i was washington after what i saw last night my week 1 starter would be jon beck...not grossman...

i swear to god in shannys offense it doesn't matter what you got up front on the oline or in the backfield you are just gonna run the ball with success...crazy how easily they can run the ball in that o

I was impressed with Washington's D against the Steelers as well. Could be legit this year. Hightower and Helu look very solid running the ball as well and I agree about Beck, seems a good fit for that offense. Throwing a much better deep ball now than he used to as well.

I agree with Hayden Fox though, my excitement was tempered with the thrashing Cincy gave Carolina. Panthers seem far from competitive right now and when the only thing they rave about on offense is how well Cam Newton runs that's a bad sign...QBs need to throw the ball, JMO, and he's not throwing the ball worth a crap. If I'm Rob Chudzinski I'm making a quick getaway after this season rather than hitch my OC career to Cam Newton. They guy is a solid OC but he's been straddled with Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn and now Cam Newton.

It wasn't strange to me to see Ricky in another uni. I still remember him with the Saints...by the way, he didn't look that good last night.

It was strange to see Ronnie in another uniform...and he did look good for the Eagles but I still wonder if, or should I say when, he's going to get injured.

And if Beck ends up starting, which as I said I think he should, and does better than Henne it would only add fuel to the fire for Sparano and Ireland's hot seat. I don't even want to think about that right now.

Andy Dalton marched down the field and scored a touchdown on the Jets starting D...

I wouldn't say they are terrible.

After the game against the Jets, Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. had the Bengals ranked as his worst team in the NFL.
