Don't think they're allowed to do the play-by-play at practice any more but there are some interesting tweets.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 59m Philip Wheeler has a cast on his right hand. But he's practicing. Fingers aren't exposed.

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 2h
Dolphins LB Phillip Wheeler is wielding a club-like cast on his right hand. That bad for someone paid to tackle?

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 1h
JP said Walt Aikens tackled well with cast so maybe Phillip Wheeler can.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 58m
Joe Philbin said the Dolphins went over the team's third down package today.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 58m
Joe Philbin said the key to winning in the running game is to eliminate penetration. "We've got to generate some movement."

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 57m
Billy Turner returned to practice. "He's progressing on a daily basis and we'll see how he feels tomorrow" regarding turf toe.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 56m
Joe Philbin said they are taking Philip Wheeler's hand issue "day to day" and seeing how he adjust to it in practice.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 54m
Joe Philbin said Louis Delmas isn't locked into playing in the box, or deep. The beauty of his game will be he does everything.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 52m Olivier Vernon is doing wind sprints after practice. Either he's being pushed, or going the extra line.

"There is no more rookie mistakes, or second year mistakes. You have to make plays," Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 44m
"You can't play quarterback and have excuses," Tannehill said. "That's part of the position. Taking ownership & responsibility."

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 42m "I was in junior high when he was winning his first Super Bowl in 2000," Tannehill said of Tom Brady.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 42m
"I feel great with our chemistry in practice. I hit two deep balls with him today, and one yesterday," Tannehill said. (Probably a reference to Wallace).

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 54m
Ryan Tannehill says he hit Mike Wallace on two deep balls today.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 40m "Wins defines a quarterbacks career, and how you play in the 4th quarter dictates how much you win," Tannehill said.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 30m "We got great players on the outside, and great players on the inside. And Tannehill is coming into his own," Jimmy Wilson said.

Philbin says Dolphins had 1,100 OTA reps, 1,700 training camp reps. So no changes to counter Pats gaining info. "We do what we do."

David Hinds, who was signed as a tryout player last yr. but cut in camp, is back. Signed to practice squad after going to camp with Titans.

Gotta like Tannehills responses. He understands and embraces his leadership role as the QB of the team. Can't say the same for some other QB's around the league. Hoping for a great season for that kid.

A cast on Wheeler's hand has no effect on his inability to tackle because he has no concept of wrapping up the ball carrier.

So who is getting the lead RB slot?

Miller or Moreno?

I know depth chart shows Miller but that really means nothing IMO.

Moreno is clearly the better RB, and as the season starts we'll notice that he's getting the majority of the snaps.

Good time for Tannehill to get in sync with Wallace.

Maybe that cast will act as a ballast and it will improve the angles Wheeler takes:)

You're not going to see that information before the first game. Why give the Pats any info when they're signing ex-Dolphin players at will.

MAybe we'll get to see what McCain is capable of in a real game if Wheeler isnt ready to go. It shouldbt be hard for even a rookie to supplant Wheeler.

Love that response. This is a response of a HC that is very confident on what he expects his offense to do...against anyone, and is almost yelling "Stop it if you think you can." VERY NICE.

If Wheeler ends up being out, it might just prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Glad to see Tannehill taking personal accountability and cutting himself no slack. Although it's true that he took ownership of last season's long ball miscues to Wallace as well instead of throwing him or the swiss cheesy OL under the bus Peyton Manning style for half of them. That's exhibiting leadership!

I don't think they should take any chances, sit Wheeler and rest that hand. for like 17 weeks...

I wouldn't want our star LB to get hurt...maybe they would let someone else play...
