The Dolphins signed Josh Sitton and traded for Daniel Kilgore primarily to keep Ryan Tannehill upright.
But the moves had the added benefit of shushing some of Adam Gase’s critics.
“I'm just glad I don't have to hear about guard play for a while,” Gase joked here Tuesday.
Not when you have three potential starters for two spots. Sitton will start at left guard. Gase suggested Tuesday that Jesse Davis and Ted Larsen will compete on the right side.

What a great problem to have, good job by our HC, he deserves a thumbs up.

The line should be fine. But if somehow Nelson fell to #11 do you take him? Sitton isn't young and Kilgore is middle of the pack talent-wise. Nelson could probably play center if need be.

I know that wouldn't be the ideal way Miami would want to go, but just a thought.

Normally, I would say no. But Nelson might be the best guard prospect I've ever seen.

There's no way to really forecast how the draft will fall. I think we should play a strong hand and stay put at #11. If Baker Mayfield gets to a 6-7 range the team might want to go get him. If the draft goes as expected there will be excellent talent on the board at #11. We have to see if one of the highest rated players has a bit of a free fall. If Nelson is the guy who falls you have to pick him imo. If Nelson and Fitz fall then you have a great problem, which future star to pick.

In that scenario, I might take Nelson and play him at RG, move Davis to RT, and trade James.

Nelson is projected to be a starter in this league for 10-12 years (barring injury). Mel Kiper has all of the big 4 QB's gone by pick #11 with only Lamar Jackson going to Arizona at 15 or 16, wherever they pick. I wouldn't be sad if the Fins took Nelson even though they have many other pressing needs, he's that good.

We've spent 4 of the last 10 first round draft picks on exactly this. It's got us nowhere. 1st and 2nd round needs to be used on skill position impact players. Not a guard or a center or a right tackle...

Nothing makes me happier coach than not having to mention guard plan anymore. Thank you.

The problem is the mixing of offensive systems these past 10 years. Going for a power man scheme vs ZBS, requires 2 completely different types of athlete. Your thinking though leads to more of the same and the incessant caterwauling using terms like "pissing blood". While we see other teams protecting their young QBs and making PO appearances.

Lol incessant caterwauling...pissing blood. Very drama queenish. But to each their own.
