history shows that no draft is perfect and I could dig up the stats somewhere but if I remember correctly if you get around 40 percent of your picks to work out on a draft you’ve had a successful draft. So that being said if only 40 percent of our picks work out which players are in that number?

How do you define "work out?" Aikens worked out pretty well considering he was never a starter. Does "work out" include ST, or subs on D, or a short yardage RB? Last yer was Harris, McMillan (I'm projecting), Tank, Godchaux, Taylor. Not bad. This year, Fitz, Gesicki, Smythe, ballage, and likely, one ST ace. Again, not bad.

I think all of our first 4 picks are safe bets, I could see Baker needing a year to develop but I feel pretty confident he will be really good too

I think we'll hit on 5 of the 8......at least I believe 5 will contribute this year

I think this year we keep all our draft picks on the 53 or PS.

I'm worried about a smaller LB with limited instincts.

Miami bucks the trend and beats the odds this year. Lots of bad drafts for the Dolphins. This one won't be one of them. I think Fitzpatrick will emerge as a perennial pro-bowler. Both tight ends will contribute right off the bat and Baker should eventually unseat Alonso as the weakside starter. So that's four out of eight --- 50 percent.

I say 2 out of 8 hit - Fitz and Gesicki. The rest might contribute on ST, 3rd downs, etc.. Finding starters with talent is the goal of your top picks anyhow so I'd be okay with only the top 2 working out.

I've learned that if you go into the draft with zero expectations, it's easier to be impressed with mediocre results.

Well, I think Fitzpatrick is a homerun, what the coaches will be able to do with him on defense, with the way he can be moved around to different positions, like a perfect chess piece will be extremely exciting, and scary for offenses.

Gesicki is going to become Tannehill best friend very quickly, he lost Landry, but when he is in trouble, he will eventually be looking for Gesicki. Unlike Landry (...And I'm a big Landry fan), when Miami is in the redzone, Gesicki will get Miami more TDs.

Though the TE that makes me happiest, and most excited is Gesicki, don't be surprised if Smythe does not challenge Gesicki in efficiency to score while in the Redzone, while being a MUCH better blocker. When some people forget, Smythe showed very consistent hands catching the ball, but was on a Notre Dame team that did not throw much.

Baker made me very excited with the type of speed he has, and how athletic he can be, but not being able to get off blocks, and him supposedly being slow to diagnose a play. Well, I watch videos, and read some more, and he is not Zach Thomas, so what, who actually is. He is more then quick enough, his instincts are fine. As for getting off blocks, if a blocker gets to him, he will probably own him, but with his speed and athleticism, it will not be easy to get to Baker, and if the blocker cleanly clock him, Baker speed will allow him to destroy some plays very quickly. I do want to see him add a little more weight though.

I like Ballage, and think in time he will be able to be an effective 3rd down back, but doubt we will see that much of him this year with Drake and Gore. He does need to work hard this year though, he is a 220 pounds, great receiver, nice speed for his size, and when allowed to extend runs, tends to become more exposive, but at 220, he has got to do a much better job finding the hole up the gut, and succeeding. He needs to run with more power, more heart, just because defenders got a hand on you in the middle of the lines does not mean you should go down so easily at 220.

Our picks seem to be getting over the last 2-3 years, lets hope the trend continues. I am hoping for 75-80%....
