I answered another post or 2 with this...but IMHO this was and is an issue that is serious and needs addressing. Some guys you look and see them make a play and say...'ahh there is the talent', they just do not do it consistently.

the OL works more as a group than any other unit....we covered for Bennie Anderson with blocking down, covering his side with a TE (easier to defend and disguise D)and chipping or chipping with a back or Hadnot slid his way, all night. Bennie Anderson has shown NOTHING. I have not seen 1 play where you say..."oh thats why we brought him in"....IMHO the only reason we are not tearing him to shreads today is...everyone covered for him, which in turn hurt their own performance and exposed their flaws. Shelton is not meant to go all game with very little RB/TE help(but they were busy helping the other side and not because of Vernon who's feet looked the best they ever have IMHO) against Joey Porter...of course he looked bad, or at least average. I said in another response McMike had to chip often (probably by my notice 85% of the time to Bennies side) hampering his run off the line...I do not claim to know the effect it had on his ability to get the ball...but it sure cant help...

move carey to guard dmac to right tackle?

I am not quite sure, it's a tough situation...possibly we can survive through not playing pittsburgh type defenses until Berger is healthy and put Smith/Berger at center and move Hadnot back to guard.. I do not have a good opinion as to what the answer is...I do KNOW however that Bennie is a liability for the entire unit. He should play better against less mobile more stright up defenses...like Buffalo. Seriously I have literally not seen 1 single play where he was impressive....????

i don't have the answer, but agree he has not looked good, houck is a damn good ol coach and either he thinks there is improvement or he'll replace him. i hope there is some improvement cause i beleive the line really takes time to play together as a unit and don't like to shuffle people around

i have been concerned aobut him from day one. he was let go by buffalo. that says a lot. i agree, i have seen nothing yet that says he is a starting caliber player.

however, what are our options for now.? we could move carey to RG, but he has been playing well at RT so far and i would hate to screw with his confidence or technique. if we did do that, who would we put at RT? i am not sure DMac is the answer. toledo isn't healthy yet and alabi is not ready. what about the new guy we signed from NO, jacox or whatever?

I really have no clue what the best option is, I only see Anderson not getting it done. IMO the staff does not have a lot of faith in Smith (inactive last night). Smith certainly is not a physical center and is inexperienced at the position. Berger does not offer much more in experience but seems much more physical at center....I guess if I had to make a move it would be Berger to center when healthy and Hadnot back to guard. The McKinney injury is looking much bigger to me right now. I REALLY think this problem is big and much overlooked by fans/posters. Carey is getting better and better IMO and it is a fragile issue given his slow development at tackle to move him. D-Mac does not seem much like a guard and has no experience at the position so I would not consider him an alternative to move. Jacox I do not know. Smith may be able to play guard but his lack of bulk/strength/push is a liability although he cannot be worse than Anderson. Damn Toledo and Berger injuries. I do not know who is available 'on the streets' but Jacox may have been the best option , again I do not know much about hi and have never really watched him play.

Maybe simply plugging Berger in at RG?

That was the only difference.. They blocked our blitz.. Many times.. We didn't block their enough. Blame Culpepper.. But Where was Ronnies yards? That all contributes to OL play. Give the big guys time to jel. We WILL have a monster year. We need to put way more pressure on the QB. Way more.

Of all the names people mentioned, Jacox is the guy that'll play right G or C .. He was a disciple of Houck's O-line in San Diego . And on san diego message boards they are saying he is pretty good.. Jacox was the Center for New Orleans the past couple seasons.

i hate the dolphins, but feel bad for you in that you're going to have to deal with him this year.

teams bring him in with the saying "he was one of the linemen for a 2000 yard rusher"

that may be true but that was years ago, and says nothing about his current level of skill. think about this: he wasnt even good enough to be a starter on the bills oline this year.

bennie anderson will appear in games for two reasons.
1. penalties
2. after a play is basically over, he rumbles in, uselessly pushes the other teams guys in the back, and helps the running back or qb get back up (he might feel bad for being the cause of them being on the ground in the backfield)
