I know it is sexy to tlak about Brees, Culpepper, Arrington and T.O. right now, but I would like to change gears for a minutes. Folks, Sammy Morris is a free agent right now. This concerns me greatly.

Sammy is a versatile back who has done everything asked of him. He has played fullback, tailback and even special teams. All without fanfare or complaining. Now, he might leave with the same two traits.

I think it needs to be reminded to everyonethat Ricky Williams has a real chance of spending 2006 in street clothes. If his appeal fails and Sammy Morris signs elsewhere, we are suddenly paper thin at the RB situation behind Ronnie.

With Morris you get a hard working team player who knows the system and is respected by everyone. He is not the type of guy you want to let go. This is my public cry to sign him as soon as this QB situation is addressed. Don't wait for a minute longer than we need to.

Thank you.

I have a feeling that the QB situation has nothing to do with Morris. I think he wants to test the market a little but will be back unless he finds somebody to pay him a lot more than Miami will.

If Sammy Morris is ever forced to be our starting tail back, the season is over.

There are a multitude of versatile, humble professional RBs out there. I wouldn't spend a dime more on him that he deserves, especially with the new cap and some of our existing ridiculous contracts.

no one but wanny would ever expect to get by with sammy as our starting back:sidelol:

Morris value is as a special teams guy. Not as a Rb.

You build a decent teams teams unit from the wavier wire.

Sammy played very well as the starting RB in 2004. Averaging 4.0 yards per carry behind that line is pretty impressive. Remember, Ricky averaged 3.5 ypc in 2003 with a better OL. With a better OL, like I expect us to have, Morris could fill in nicely, if necessary. Of course, we all hope it isn't necessary.

I'm blanking on where I read it, but I believe the Dolphins expressed to him (or his agent) a fair amount of interest in re-signing him. They just asked him to wait until they get the QB situation settled.

I agree we need to get that dude back.!!!

I'm with you on that too.. Sure there are more backs of that type out there. But Sammy is OURS.. We need to keep him.

i would like him back, but i think we could other back-ups who could do just the same for us

He blocks very well also. May I bring to memory the block he put on Bruschi that flipped him over in the air? The guy was a fullback after all.

He did rush for 500 yards when he was a starter, which was like a hall of fame performance in the Wannay Regime. Especially since he was playing behind the turnstile.

i dont know why hes so under-rated by some. if ricky doesnt get off that stuff, i really really want to have morris as the back up because of many of the reasons already listed.
