Ok so I was sitting bored and decided to do some research. i remembered reading an interview with Cam Cameron talking about how they cleaned house when they went 4-12 (2003) and then restocked the o-line and went 12-4 the next year. Well i decided to see exactly how he did this. I first looked at the draft in 2004. The first o-linemen came in the third round (Nick Hardwick C) and the next one came in the SEVENTH round (Shane Olivea T) both of which who are now starters on San Diegos line. The next 2 guys were (Roman Oben T & Mike Goff G) who they got from free agency and are also still a starters for the Bolts. That means they were starting 2 rookies out of college and two guys from another team and they happened to lead the team to a 12-4 season. Hey if he could do this for SD why not the Phins especially since he is now head coach and has a lot more sontrol. Hope we share the same good fortune as SD.

Unfortunately, unlike SD we were unable to land two OL studs in FA to take some pressure off finding some in the draft. Having said that, they proved you can get two OL starters the same year without burning your highest picks on them... so that's food for thought and a glimmer of hope it could happen for us.

So much for our top 2 draft hopefuls...
This whole draft thing is such a crazy time.
I bought the Sporting News Draft magazine at the store for an overpriced 7.95. (magazines are easier to read in the bathroom) and there's our golden boy on the cover: Brady Quinn - biggest risk.
Reading further they grade the Golden Domer as a "3rd round pick" and that Jamarcus Russell & Kevin Kolb are better prospects!
They compare Brady to... you guessed it: Joey Harrington!!!!
Having watched the game film of Quinn they've determined he cannot throw a pass longer than 10 yards with any consistent accuracy! Longer than 10 yards!!!

As far as Levi Brown they have graded out as a 2nd rounder and question his work ethic (can you say... lazy?)

This publication appears to have been compiled prior to the combine or free agency. So they were going strictly by their game film interperetation.

They also scored a bullseye on all the Dolphin's needs so they are pretty competent in their analyses.

we dont need four superstars this year. if we do a good job in the draft then we could have a good line. then next year go after FA or draft again cuz there are suppose to be two OT that are better than Joe Thomas coming out next year. i dont remember there names but they were projected to come out this year and were rank 1, 2 over thomas.

yeah but we do have 2 perhaps you could say 3 legit players already on our line...

carey at RT is a lock and hes on the verge of pro-bowling... i think shelton at RG should also be a lock, he played very well there last year... and we have hadnot at either C or LG, he could play either, though he seems more naturally suited for the G spot... but if we can land a rookie center and a LT that plays better than alabi we'll be good to go...

but dont give up hope on alabi yet, he could surprise, hes got all the skills and traits you look for in an LT hes just gotta put it all together

Maybe I should have used the word "solid" instead of "stud." I guess my point was I was disappointed we didn't do more in FA for our offensive line. Now we have serious holes to fill on the line, and sometimes the draft doesn't unfold the way you wanted it to. It will definitely be a challenge for our FO. I think they are up to it, but it's a fair concern.

As much as I'd love to see Miami get well this offseason, Cameron wasn't in charge of personnel in SD. AJ Smith is their GM. I think you are giving Cameron too much credit for their draft and FA pickups.

How much credit would you give Kippy Brown for Jimmy Johnson's draft picks?
