Hey folks, rough way to end the year -- but such is life in the NFL. My work is pretty much complete until the Senior Bowl so I thought I would drop in and provide a different perspective on Ryan Tannehill's development based on some troubling posts I've seen.

I'll keep this one simple. Tannehill has certain fundamental issues that an experienced quarterback coach will need to clean up; namely hip movement/stability (for deep throw accuracy) and pocket awareness. However, I can tell you from interacting with NFL scouts on a day-to-day basis that he is almost universally viewed as a future perennial Pro Bowler. Everyone is welcome to their own opinion; but any views suggesting he is a bust, or does not warrant further development, would be viewed as buffoonery among those that evaluate football talent for a living.

I understand frustration is high, given recent events, but please know that the quarterback position should be viewed as a major asset going forward. There is enough (warranted) criticism to be distributed elsewhere.

A wiser thing has never been posted on this site.

talking about hip movement is utter buffoonery imo

to someone who shares the same opinion. because that's all it is. whether you think probowler or bust, it is merely speculation. he has done nothing to be pulled nor to keep his job other than he was the #8 pick.

Not to be a douche but Derek Anderson was a pro bowl player and is out of the league now. The pro bowl means jack anymore considering it's more of a popularity contest. I'd be more satisfied if he could at least win winnable games and show up to the big ones. I'm not discrediting your opinion, but there are many scouts that advise franchises that some players are worthy of a draft pick ( Philip Merling, Pat White, Jamarcus Russell) and that turned out to be nothing. Everyone makes mistakes so it's hard to look at any position on this team as an asset. Including coaching and front office positions.

I have no idea who the OP is but it sounds like he has some credibility, and his post is somewhat re-assuring. Also, Derek Anderson backs up Cam Newton.

Most of the Tanne bashers are just pissed that their hero Matt Moore isn't the QB. They got all excited last week with the first play and were brought back to reality. Get over it!

sheesh... I guess that makes me feel better about Tannehill :( nice find. Dude sounds like he has credibility but scouts get it wrong also.

If you don't have a viable system in place, it doesn't matter who you have at QB....you are not going to win. The Phins cannot score enough points to compete with the Patriots, Broncos and other high powered offenses. Replace the GM and get a coach who is not running a system that was out of date back in the 1980's. See what the Eagles are doing with Chip Kelly? Now that's an offense!!!

Denial and missing the playoffs is fun dude. Stick with that, the Dolphins do...

Actually Derek "Horseballs" Anderson is Cam Newton's backup QB in Carolina. But your general point is valid, he should never have been a ProBowl QB.
I think that Tannehill still has a lot of potential to be a very good QB. He's still the best QB prospect to walk into the joint since Marino. (Yes, even better than Cleo Lemon and Joey Harrington). It might be good for him to have a different Offensive Coordinator.

Have these discussions this time next year when he's finished his third year.
