Is ronnie Brown the future running back of the miami dolphins? i dont know but what i do know is that saban will play the best player period! and i dont care what these players do off the field, i do care what they do on the field and ricky williams is a better player than ronnie brown when both players are at there best. and anyone who says that he isnt, then your saying that ronnie brown will be the best RB in the league, because i feel thats what ricky was when he played and i have cowboy and patriot fans say the same, its just a fact. but it all boils down to this, the dolphins front office and ronnie brown are probally at a stalemate because there probally saying that in week 5 ricky will be starting and they feel that lamar gordon can be a good plug in until then so why pay a man all this money when he can ride the pine so there going to make there offer and not budge because they dont need to. ronnie will sign for what we offer its just the person he is, he will realize that we have a ton of rbs and he will want to get in camp to fight for the starting spot because if he does that he will play the first 4 weeks if he grasps the playbook and that will give him a good shot at beating out ricky if he plays WELL but i wont sweat it if he doesnt sign.

I agree.

People keep saying he'll be better than Ricky. Odds are that Ricky will return to something at least similar to his old self. I hope they're right.

ummm... you don't know what Ronnie has so you can't say Ricky is better than him... i know you may be bitter about whats going on with Ronnie but don't jump on the "We don't need Ronnie" Bandwagon.... he could be the best back in the NFL this year... he also could be the worst.... you can't at all talk about how Ronnie plays because he hasn't taken a down in the NFL yet.... so this thread is ^%$@

you can't say ricky is better tan ronnie cause ronnie hasn't even played a game, so there's no comparison

I don't think you can find one GM in the league who would rather have pre or post retirement Ricky over Ladanian Tomlinson. He is the best and most durable back in the league.

Wow... that was really hard to read.

Anyways, there's probably some of that thought going on in the front office, but I highly doubt that they are reluctant to give him money because they think that Lamar Gordon can fill his role. Ricky may very well be starting come game 5, but they aren't just going to leave Ronnie unsigned.. that would just be silly.

Let me just question one thing about your comment...just what do you base your assessment of Brown vs. RW.....There is no way to convince anyone that RW is better than Brown when he is at his best yet...Brown's gotta get on the field before you can go off half-****ed and say something like that. I am also disappointed that Brown isn't in camp, but I'll bet you that when RW takes off for the Outback (not the restaurant) again, you'll be crying the blues if we didn't have Brown...Be real and take this negotiation for what it's worth...Brown is waiting to see what Edwards or Benson get..The Fins do, as you say, have the ability to wait it out and we all know that Brown is actually hurting himself more than the team, but to make a comment that is pure speculation on your part is silly...

What kind of reasoning is that? Until you do it on the field you are just hype! That is all Ronnie is right now. Ricky has proven that he can do it on the field, so how can you possibly think that Ricky is not better at this point? Ricky has been there done that! Ronnie needs to get in to camp and start proving that he is worthy of all this praise heaped upon him, which as far as the NFL is concerned.....is a 40 time.

Ronnie Brown better be the future RB for the Phins. I'll go a step further, and I think he's going to have to become the "face of the franchise," after Jt and Zach leave. Ronnie Brown needs to sign, and it's not just his fault, it's the front offices fault as well that he's not in camp. He's not a Qb, so I would not be too concerned, but if the team has Lamar Gordon/Sammy Morris starting week 1 and not Ronnie Brown, than I think it's gonna be a rough start to the year.

I would be surprised to see Ronnie get any starts this year with the running backs we have. He hasn't been in camp to even know what's going on. The worst thing to happen to professional sports are agents.

Strange stances here... we all know that virtually ANY back that has proven himself in the NFL and isn't damaged goods would be considered a better choice at RB. All the arguments for a rookie coming in are predicated on his college stats, combine numbers, or potential. Note: A coach gave our team a bit of wisdom when he said: Potential means you haven't done jack $hit yet!

The problem many would have with declaring Rickey the better of the two would have to come from the argument that Rickey is indeed damaged goods, because of his recent past choices etc.

I don't think this argument is winnable until we see each in action for an extended period of time. But as an aside, I too question whether or not we as a team would get the VALUE out of paying the rookie what he's being offered, even less for what he's seeking. I don't begrudge the man in attempting to make what he can as a RB's shelf life is limited. I'm just not sure we as an organization will get the best mileage out of paying a RB what amounts to twice as much as we've ever guaranteed anyone!

And as a true Dolfan, I want what the rest of you do; that is: That Rickey and Ronnie make the greatest one-two tandem to play the game!

I agree that at this point, Ricky is the better back. By that I mean he has shown what he can do against big men in the NFL. You cannot compare them because it is apples and oranges.

Brown, unless he has kept up with his conditioning while waiting for the bamk to open, and with zero practice, will have a lot of catching up to do to get some reps. Until he is conditioned (physically and played in the So. Fla. humiidity) Saban isn'tgoing to risk him getting some injury that keeps him out for the season. We get enough of that just from bad luck.

As for damaged goods - whoopee - with the advent of free agency and the way some players want to renegotiate in the middle of a contract - players are year-to-year, fraq what te contract says.

And yes, like everyone else, I am disappointed that our top pick is holding out for a reported difference of $3mm. Good grief. Bite the bullet, get in there and prove yourself and you can make demands.

Of course this is all just my opinion.:goof:
