The best players still available:
Ciatrick Fason, RB, 6'0", 209 lbs, Florida -- Pro Football Weekley's highest rated player left on the board, the #47 player in the draft. It's great value to have Fason available at this point. Some poor workouts did him in, but he was a near 1,000 yard rusher in the SEC and had the look of a dominant runner. Very comparable to Fred Taylor. I think Philadelphia will probably take him with the first pick of the fourth round, but if he happened to drop to Miami, they'd have to consider him even though they took Ronnie Brown in the first. He'd be great value for Miami that could turn into a second round pick within two years to a running back needy team.
Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, 6'3", 325 lbs, Wisconsin -- This is a big time talent that has dropped due to testing positive for marijuana and his propensity to take plays off during the course of the game. Some have questioned his intensity level, but he's a big guy that can move well enough to penetrate into the backfield when he's on his game. I don't know that this is a guy Nick Saban will consider. It seems that Anttaj may need to have his butt kicked a few too many times for Nick's taste. I could see Cleveland take a flier with him, with their need for defensive linemen. He's the fourth highest rated player on the board according to Pro Football Weekly.
Jason Brown, C, 6'3", 313 lbs, North Carolina -- The second highest rated player on the board according to PFW. Jason is a big center who is extremely strong. He could possibly project to guard in the NFL as well. He is the type of lineman that Hudson Houck likes.
Ray Willis, OT, 6'5", 325 lbs, Florida State -- The third highest rated player left on the board according to PFW. Ray is a big, right tackle type of prospect that was quite honestly a better player at Florida State than Alex Barron, because unlike Barron, Willis got the most out of his ability. He lacks movement skills, so he may get pushed inside to guard down the road. He's another big lineman that Coach Houck would like though.
Elton Brown, OG, 6'5", 329 lbs, Virginia -- The fifth highest rated player still available and my top overall guard in the draft period. Elton Brown has dropped because he didn't show a lot of desire at the end of the year. He let himself get out of shape and didn't seem to prepare for the combine. That's really hurt him. This is a legitimate first round talent, IMO though. He's the best pulling guard in the draft and has the size to engulf defenders at the point. A lot of talent lies in this player. Do the Dolphins think they can get the most out of him?
Chris Canty, DE, 6'7", 279 lbs, Virginia -- The sixth highest rated player remaining according to PFW. Chris was originally projected as a second round pick. He recently got into a fight, suffered a detached retina, and this has obviously affected his stock. He has the look of a traditional 3-4 defensive end with his size and wingspan.
Fred Gibson, WR, 6'4", 196 lbs, Georgia -- The highest rated receiver on the board. Miami showed a lot of interest in both he and his teammate Reggie Brown at their private workout as well as their workout for Miami. He's got a great frame and is a wonderful athlete.
There are a lot of good players still available for the Dolphins. If I had to guess right now, I'd project Fred Gibson to Miami at pick #104. Nick seems to be going after players that he is familiar with, and of all the players left on the board, Fason and Gibson are the two Nick is the most familiar with.
I won't be surprised if they pluck Elton Brown with this pick though.
