Buffalo--T.O/Lee Evans--2069 yds, 13 TD
Pats--Moss / Welker--2173 yds, 14 TD
Jets--Cotchery / Stuckey--1217 yds, 8 TD
Texans--Andre Johnson / Kevin Walter--2474 yds, 16 TD
Colts--Wayne / Gonzalez--1809 yds, 10 TD
Steelers--Holmes / Ward--1864 yds, 12 TD

The moral to the story is Will Allen cannot cover both WR . Pretty much every team has 2 pretty good WR. Look at the Pats, Bills, Steelers, Saints, and Texans. We will get torched unless we add a good starting corner. Looking at our depth chart we have Allen on one side and on the other we have--Nate Jones, Scorpio Barbers, Ethan Kilmer, Jason Allen , and Will Billingsley. None of these guys are proven and Allen flat out stinks. There were 6 games we gave up at least 100 yds to a single WR. Which isnt too bad. But there were 3 games we got killed. Fitz and Boldin had 293 yds, 3 TD--Welker and Moss had 245 yds , 3 TD and Andre Johnson and Walters had 276 yds and a TD. Our schedule this year is tougher and most of the teams can pass very well. I know im beating a dead horse but with 2 very good FA CB left on the market and our lack of a good CB to play with Allen Im not sure what we are doing. If we dont sign one or draft a really good CB with the 1st round pick I am going to dread the games with Buffalo, NE, Saints, Falcons well all the games except Titans, Jags, and Jets. TO was a big addition in Buffalo. Everyone is getting better but us. Especially the Jets and Bills
 
We have time to make a move at cornerback. They are likely going to add a free agent, and use a early draft pick on one. You can't expect that they will enter the season with what they already have. Moves will be made.
 
I feel uou pain. im pretty sure the trifecta gots some plan but they got to hurry up unless they draft the corner. I hope the corners we got could also hold them long enough so the pass rush could get to the QB. another thing we could do is buy out some refs to call offensive pass interference you know what im talking about?
 
Do we have a game tomorrow? I mean, seriously, does anyone actually believe that we are satisfied with the current CB depth chart? We will add a CB via free agency and draft one early. Everyone needs to chill out.
 
hey I agree we need an upgrade but the passing game is a two headed monster. It ain't all about the CB. If you can't get pressure on the QB it doesn't matter who you have covering them. That was a big problem in most of Dec through the end of the year. They have tried to address that so far in FA. Still a ton of time till the draft...
 
A good pass rush interrupts the QBs timing, and therefore affects how effective they throw the ball.

FA Season isn't over yet and we still have the draft. I like what we've done. Be patient, remember, Parcell's Giants could control the 49ers in their glory years.
 
I'm confident well be a better team, but lose more games. We just aren't ready to compete at the highest level yet. So it really doesn't matter who we face next year.

where is the optimism? LOL. last year we were coming off a 1-15 season. NO ONE had high expectations. and we did awesome. so why not believe that last season wasn't a fluke. just cuz we have a stronger schedule, doesn't mean we will lose a lot of games. we are a better team now. and anything can happen. some of these teams we have to play could suck next year. :D

will clearly does not 'suck' ... he isn't a shut down corner - but he can hold his own. IF he did -- don't you think the FO would have paid 7 MIL for one of the top available FAs

We've improved the S and potentially the LB positions with Wilson and Wake to help ... the key to me though, is if Wake can become an impact player and put Roth on the bench. If Roth is still our SOLB, then you can start to worry.

Of course, an easy stop gap measure would be to get Julius Peppers ....

The point is .... if the QBs have 3 or less seconds to throw -- we can get by without stellar CBs .... or Allen and a rookie along with S help.

I think the "Allen" he was referring to was Jason Allen, not Will Allen.
 
:up: I think they will pick at least two corners in the draft: one @ the top & the other in the mid-rounds. We will not be able to resolve every problem this year & we are not going to the SuperBowl in 2009 unless there is another miracle season coming our way. We need to develop two ShutDown Corners & a Monster-NT on defense. Then on offense, the simple reality is, we need to develop two WR's & a Franchise QB.

We're closing the gap, but we need at least another draft & free agency to fill in the holes & time to develop chemistry.

In 2010 we will Contend! Patience, this is an on-going process.
 
coaching will have to balance the scales, once again, for us to be viable in 2009
we cannot fill every need this off season. the team needs time to develop

yea but their is only a few CB's available. i don't want to start a rookie next year! I want a veteran CB.
