I am in the military so i got free tickets to see the Bucs play Minnesota. Not a bucs fan in any way but really wanted to see the best runningback in the league Adrian Peterson.

Cannot think of any other area to place this since I feel it is dolphin related.

I will precurser this with I am very happy with Chad Pennington but I feel if we had went with this option we would never have felt the wrath of almost going winless plus not suffered through the trifecta of Harrington, Green and Culpepper as well as not had to see lemon or beck ever play for us.

It came to mind during the game that our previous regimes passed over Jeff Garcia multiple times. Now I know someone will come out blasting that we passed over many players but seldom has a team needed a Qb so badly and ignored a good qb so many times.

In 2004 we traded a second round pick for AJ Feeley, while we could have got Jeff Garcia as a free agent. We gave Feeley a fairly huge contract after the trade so cost was really not a factor. We could have signed Garcia to Feeley's contract and had a guy that could have manned the ship while we drafted a young guy. Garcia at 38 is still playing quality football unlike the guy we brought in to mentor Beck.

In 2005 after a year in Cleveland, Garcia was again a free agent but we chose to sign Gus Frerotte.

In 2006 We spent big money and a 2nd round pick on Daunte Culpepper and a 4th on Joey Harrington or was it a 5th. He signed with Philly as a backup and threw 10 tds and 2 int in relief.

Then in 2007 we trade another draft pick for Trent Green over Jeff Garcia who was once again a free agent. Green shows he is washed up while Garcia goes to the probowl.

Must say Im glad we finally have a qb but its funny we never looked at Garcia. Garcia was not great in Detroit or Cleveland but very few qb's are and we had solid talent to surround him with most years in question. Again I am not just playing revisionist but do find it odd in the scheme of things that we never realistically looked at him.

PS can a mod please fix my mistyping of the word opportunity.

I left this game in pure amazement of how good Garcia still looks at qb and how damn good Peterson is as a RB. he had only 82 yards but he did some things that were purely amazing at times when met in the backfield. The one thing that stood out was Garcia is so much better than Frerotte our former Qb who did solid his one year here.

i always liked garcia myself. i like his wife even more though

I think he would have done a very Pennington like job here plus he is mobile. That being said at this time Chad is a better choice due to age.

i remember watching him QB the Eagles in the playoffs a couple years ago right after my bro&i got here to Walter Reed, and thinking he's a pretty good QB myself...

Garcia is a decent player. More or less in the big picture though....he blows. I mean, if you were talking about us passing on a truly elite player at QB, then you may have something.

Speaking of which, how can you make a post about passing on signing Garcia when just recently we declined to select Matt Ryan when we had the opportunity?

I watched a lot of Garcia living in 49er country. Those guys are borderline retarded for ever getting rid of that guy. Garcia is pure heart, and he can play pretty well too. He's a lot like Jay Fiedler but with a better arm.

My point was more clear with Garcia since we have tried every year since 2004 to find a suitable qb and Garcia was available each time. Garcia would have been a stable qb while we drafted a guy to develop. We would never have wasted multiple draft picks to find a qb and we would probably be in much better shape. You know I am a big Matt Ryan supporter but I do support that our team took Long over Ryan. I think neither would have been a bad way to go and i do feel that Ryan may be a HOF type player possibly but I agree with taking jake long. if we had taken Chris Long or anybody else over Ryan then I would be irked. I personally think we blew it big time by not taking Quinn last year. we could have then taken a guy like lamar woodly in the second and Sabby Piscatelli or just taken Satale.
we could have easily got a guy similar to Ginn in this year's draft in the second round.

We also picked up Trent Green when we had the opportunity, sport...but you keep sounding off on that Ryan trumpet, Nostradamus

I always thought Garcia did a nice job in SF...they really haven't been the same at QB since they let him go.

Come to think of it, their entire team has sucked since he's been gone...though it wasn't just him leaving.

they truly were stupid to cut him. I was at the minny game this week and Garcia carried that offense with no true running game.
