It seems like the fanbase is completely fed up and is saying just hire somebody already. The names being talked about are just blah and could go either way but one thing is for sure, they wont get your toes tingling (ode to Mandich!). As long as Ireland is still in charge, it will feel like the same ole crap we have been seeing for over 10 years. At this point we should do what the Pats did years back and change our uniform/logo completely. We could wear our current ones as throwbacks but we need to change the whole identity with this team in my opinion. I am tired of losing year after year and to think we are now on par with teams like the Browns and Jaguars makes me sick.

It wouldn't surprise me when they announce a new head coach all we hear is a couple of claps in the background and then Ross will make another prediction that we will go to the Superbowl...

It really doesn't matter who or when Ross hires a coach. There will be some fans very unhappy they didn't hire "their guy" and some in the media who continually pick at anything a franchise does when it's down. It's human nature.

well, since ireland has only been here for 4 seasons, and has had only 1 season as GM with final say, anyone who feels we're in for the "same ole crap as the last ten years" has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. so i wouldn't really be all that concerned about them. as far as who to hire for head coach, who knows? i do know hiring jeff fisher for 857397007804 dollars and giving him final say would have likely been a mistake. all we can do is hope that whichever up and coming coordinator we ultimately hire turns out to be a genius move (a young don shula), coaches here for the next 20 years, and takes us to numerous super bowl wins.

Things will pick up at the FA period, as we start to look foward towards next season, then will come the draft, mini camps, rookie camps and then training camp... right now, we're just still stuck in that failure of a season...

No matter what happens if it doesn't involve RG3 or Manning, Ross will continue to lose money because fans aren't paying to watch the same poor product again next season.

I will not be shocked if in three years we are right back here, waiting to find out who our next HC is.

I really wish you weren't right, but I can't help but agree with you. Ross and Ireland have no business running an NFL franchise.

Doesn't matter who the team hires, people will complain. Happens with every team. Even the big names like Cowher, Gruden and Fisher have been met with resistance from some Dolphins fans. There is no hire that can be made to please everyone, and just because you don't like the hire doesn't mean it can't work. Packers fans were not thrilled when McCarthey was hired and I know there were Steelers fans that threw up their arms when Tomlin was hired. Even Ravens fans were disappointed when their team got turned down by Garrett and had to "settle" for that Special Teams coach from Philly(Harbaugh).

There is no guarantee any of these assistant guys will work out as a head coach, as we have seen up close with Cam Cameron. There is also no guarantee that a big name like Fisher would have worked out, like we have seen up close Nick Saban. The hope is that we can discover the next McCarthey, Tomlin or Schwartz. I think he have to give whoever is hired a chance and not just dismiss them initially. People dismissed Daboll off the bat last year and now some of those same people are hoping he stays. Give it a chance.

I will give whoever we hire a chance. There are no sure things. I personally want Zimmer, but if we hire McCoy, Toub, Philbin, or anyone else, who knows that could end up being the best hire. Give the new guy a chance, whoever he is

this is way too good a suggestion.

Well said.

We need a proven winner. We need a guy who changes the culture. Let's get coach Bret Bielema asap! We would be instant contenders.

+1

This is very painful to accept. I accepted this 2 years ago, which made this season not surprising.

This whole oganization needs to be blown up and started from scratch........We will be competing with Buffalo for third in our division next year, accept this and it will be a lot less painful.

In a way, I think that losing out on the big names might be the best thing that has happened to this franchise in a long time. Now don't get me wrong, I think Gruden or Cowher are good, proven coaches, but now the team is forced to go and look at the candidates objectively and try to find the guy that they think is the best fit, rather than the one who will create the most buzz and sell the most season tickets before year one.

Right now we just have to trust Jeff Ireland to pick the right guy. I hope he's up to the task.
