Glory Glory to Ole Georgia
There are a lot of fans that got their expectations raised early on the season when we beat the Broncos and Panthers. Those expectations and our team's recent blunders have had people very upset at Saban. Then there are those who ask for patience and even compare this season to Belichick's first season in New England. Personally, I think it will take some time for us to get back to dominance, but that's not the point of this thread. This morning I was thinking all these comparisons between Saban first year and Belichick first year in NE are inaccurate because it is a comparison of a rookie head coach to someone who was in his second coaching job. So I thought I would present some info on Belichick's years in Cleveland since that was his first head coach position, therefore, the comparison would be a little more to the point.
In 1991 (his first year), Belichick led the Browns to a 6-10 record. Then the team had back to back years of 7-9 in 92 and 93 before finally going 11-5 in 1994. So as you see, it wasn't until his fourth season in Cleveland that Belichick led the Browns to a winning season. I haven't seen these numbers posted, so I thought it would be good for everyone to know. Based on this information, do you view change on how soon Saban needs to produce results? Any thoughts?
