I know I have seen his name passed around a lot on here. Just wanted to get your thoughts on if this would be a good pick up or not considering who may be out there and who is already on the team....Doesnt look like a trade may happen if they release him if that is the case.

Lions | Bly probably not returning for 2007 season

Updating a previous item, Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/16/nfl">Detroit Lions CB Dre' Bly will likely not return to the team for the 2007 season. Bly has already received permission to seek a trade. When asked if that meant Bly would not return next season, head coach Rod Marinelli said, "Probably."

I like the guy but I've heard he's not a good teammate. still if the price is right why not fill our void for a #1 corner? Taylor and Thomas could keep Bly in check

True. I havn't heard much on him being an enigma in the locker room tho. Maybe I just haven't listened close enough....lol. I think you're right on the Zack and JT front as far as keeping him in line.

Doesn't seem like it would be a bad pick up in a sense....We may be able to afford him but who knows. I am not a GM so I have 0 (ZERO) knowledge here on this....lol. Just don't think it would hurt to have depth if need be.

Fellas, we should sincerely stay away from guys who are not even valued in their current teams when those teams are among the worst in the league; Dre Bly, Leonard Davis, etc.

If a team that is atrocious doesn't believe these guys can help them get just the slightest bit better, why would you want them?

No thanks. This guy is not a team player.

The Phins should go after Nick Harper. The Colts cant afford to keep him and he's not going to break the bank. He is a good cover corner, not a shut down corner but still pretty good.

Cool. I appreciate all the info. Just wondering what everyones thoughts were on him and it seems as though this guy has issues. Nick Harper would be good but if the Colts can't afford him...what makes you think we can? Is he really that good to go top dollar...I dont think so. I know the Colts have no money and maybe he can come cheap but I guess we will have to see how FA goes as well as the combine and draft....

Thanx for all the input fellas!!!

He's too small anyway, not to be a corner, but for our team for sure.

Our backfield is short enough, we need some height back there.

Bly isn't a #1 corner, regardless of his locker room issues.

Bly's best days are behind him and even then he wasn't great. He's a decent player but not a guy we should pursue.

Bly certainly fits with what we would want him to do in man coverage as opposed to zone. A lot would depend on the price tag. He's obviously a bit old, and he and Joey Harrington obviously wouldn't get along famously although Joey's probably gone anyway.

It's a definite possibility...but I'm not sure I see it, in the end.

what's your assesment of Bly?

not only is this guy past his prime, isn't he in his 30's?

we have enough dinos on the defense. I'd rather draft someone.
