A question about trades

I looked at the important dates sticky and didn't see it posted. Now that the regular season is over for most teams, when can teams start trading some of their players? Is there a date? Does everyone have to wait until after the superbowl? I ask because Cribbs says he wants a trade and then there is the possibility of Boldin being traded. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It is usually the last week of Feb.

The trade deadline was in the middle of October. So teams must wait for the season to be "officially" over and the new one begin. So the new year in the NFL starts in the beginning of March. So thus the trade period begins in the beginning of March.

So to answer your question, no. We can't trade yet because the trade deadline for "this" season has passed. This season ends in March 1st, I believe.

Thanks for the input. With some of these players already asking for a trade, they make it seem like their agents can start making some phone calls.

Free agency for 2009 was Feb 27th so that is what I went by...

However the players union keeps bringing up Mar 4, 2010 as the drop dead day for a new CBA so I assume Free Agency begins around then.
