ABOUT SOME OF OUR PLAYERS WHO THE MEDIA NEVER TALKS ABOUT.
I want to know why when great rbs or great wrs are mentioned our guys like csonka , morris, kiick, paul warfield, the marks brothers oj mcduffy and whoever else i am forgetting, are never brought up ?
mercury 40 is right the dolphins even when we were good dont get any props and these guys deserve some praise.
i am a a big warfield fan along with csonka and greise fan and have a framed picture of dan the man and the miami flag on my wall . so where i am i going with this ? well i belive that our franchise has just as good of players as the other star franchises and instead of talking about feidler, wanny, aj feely and ricky . i want to discuss the fathers of the dolphins for instance who would you guys rate as the top five players at the prominate posistions like wide receiver.
i would say the the top five wr in my opinion are
@ 1 paul warfield
@ 2 duper and clayton (tie)
@ 3 o.j mcduffy
@ 4 tony martin ?
@ 5 chris chambers

at qb it would be a safe bet to go
@1 dan marino
@2 bob greise
@3 don stock
@4 brian greise imo

at rb i would go
@1 csonka
@ 2 kiick
@3 morris
@4 kaj
@5 williams ( soon to be brown)

tight ends i would go
#1 jackson
#2 mcmichael
#3 jed weaver
#4 troy drayton
(the tight ends i forgot some the better ones so put these guys here)

anyways here are some guys that nobody seems to talk about and weaver and drayton probally dont belong here but i had a brain melt down so what you guys think ?

Well, ESPN hates teh Dolphins imo. And whats done is done, tehy need to be talkin bout the future but I agree taht none our teh stars of teh past r never mentioned cept for Marino.

I guess I'm in a minority in believing we have been treated fairly in terms of individual laurels. Actually I don't think Nick Buoniconti belongs in Canton at all. IMO he was no better than the 3rd or 4th best defender of the glory years, certainly behind Anderson and Stanfill. Nick had a well known name and longevity, which Anderson and Stanfill lacked. I certainly think Keuchenberg belongs in the Hall. He'll get there down the road, I continue to believe.

But if you had to rate the top 5 alltime at every position, Stephenson and Marino are the only stone locks, IMO. I even hesitate a bit on Marino but that's probably due to my preference for a different type of football.

Warfield was amazing, at the outer edge of top 5 alltime WRs. He is generally understated by posters here who must be looking at stats more than ability when they try to pretend Clayton was better. Csonka is a top 5 pure FB but not a top 5 overall RB. That position has evolved to the point of not being recognizeable. Little is probably a top 5 guard, especially for his era when pulling was at a premium.

Otherwise, I don't know who you include in the premier echelon. Based on a few posts around here, maybe Bua and Pope.

I think alot of our guys dont get the mention they may deserve because they simply dont have the stats the stat geeks want whether it be because a guy like csonka shared a backfield with 2 other good back or simply because they dont deserve to be

i would say the the top five wr in my opinion are
1 paul warfield
2 duper
3. clayton
4 o.j mcduffie
5 chris chambers

at qb it would be a safe bet to go
1 dan marino
2 bob greise
3 Earl Morral (invaluable for the undefeated team)
4. Strock

at rb i would go
1. RW
2. Csonka
3. Morris
4. Kiick
5. Delvin Williams

tight ends i would go
#1 jackson
#2 mcmichael
#3 troy drayton
#4 jed weaver
