This is just a thought but if W. Allen returns 100% how about him moving to nickel at his age (32) it will keep him fresh and moving N. Jones to Wilson's safety spot?

It seems like Wilson and Bell are both the same type of player which isn't a good thing to have in a FS and SS. If we had Bell the tackling machine playing next to a safety that can cover along with tackle (I think Jones has shown both) it would be a better combo back there plus we would still have Culver and Clemons for depth. (In other words we should dump Wilson's salary)

Jones cant do worse. I would like for a Jones, Wilson, J. Allen camp battle if we dont bring anyone in. Dont be surprised if Allen wins. IMO

if bell is such a tackling machine i would love to see him at one of the lb spots, move wilson over and start clemons

I agree that J. Allen seems to have turned into a quality player. While he may never live up to where he was drafted that doesn't mean he's not a solid player.

I was actually thinking that Bell showed goo instincts in coverage this year and might be better suited for fs than Wilson. I read in an article that during the Jaguars game there was a huge fourth down play around midfield where the Jaguars only had 10 guys on the field and Bell had no one to account for on the play. He just read the Qb and almost came up with a pick six, but he made a great read, he could have been anywhere on the field but his instincts took him to exactly where the pass ended up and stepped right in front of the receiver. That was a great play.

Nate Jones has a great attitude and is solid in the nickel, but he seems a bit small for Free Safety role.
I know that Jason Allen has been jerked around early in his career, but it seems that he is now better mentally prepared to be a contributor and he is physically a neater fit than most. He is just about our best Special Teams player and after the years of disappointment, it would be great to see him make it in a bigger role.

Thats a good point he is on the small side by about 15 pounds or so. I think they could easily put that on him in muscle mass during the offseason though. He's at 5-10 185 where a guy like Ed Reed is 5-11 200.

I have no problem with Will Allen as the nickel corner, but if you think Jones is the answer at FS, you are sorely mistaken. Do you not think the coaches would have moved him there if he were an option? Why would they go get Wilson last offseason if Jones at FS was an option? Never.

We need a rangy, fast, hitter with a presence back there. Desperately. I simply cannot fathom how many deep balls I saw this year with receivers WIDE OPEN down the field - seemingly every game at least one time or more. This MUST get addressed and rectified.

There was a thread here recently that made me think about what may happen. There was an article that said Bell may be the odd man out. Clemmons may move to FS and Wilson to SS. Just wondering if Wilson will be as good as Bell at SS? The thing in Wilson's favor is that he is younger than Bell. I personally would hate to see Bell go.

An upgrade at NT (Fergie says 6-8 months before he's well), some fast LB's would make a big difference in our secondary without changing a lot, except dump Gerbil no matter what.

wth? jason allen a quality player how? he played OK on special teams this year, not anything special. and he was our 4th CB after Will got hurt and his usual beating drum self when he got playing time

what are some of yall watching

good idea. but instead of moving wilson over we are going to cut him, sign Zach back and put him back there at ss.
