http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ay11,0,4498290.story?coll=sfla-dolphins-front The current generation hopes to continue in the footsteps of future Hall of Fame linebacker Junior Seau and Steelers Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu, both of Samoan ancestry.

"Everyone wanted to be Junior Seau, even if you were playing quarterback," said Mauia, a cousin of Satele and Hawaii teammate Melila Purcell, taken by the Browns in the sixth round.

Te'o and Honolulu-based NFL agent Max Hannemann said these players are all about doing things the Samoan way, called fa'a Samoa, and by always showing respect, or fa'aaloalo, to their families, coaches, teammates and opponents.

Satele, who at 6 feet 2 and 310 pounds has the traditional long hair and size of his ancestors, said he wants to eradicate the negative stereotype of Samoans as being lazy, overweight beachcombers

You know what i want to know?
Will i ever be able to hear the name Reagan Mauia and not think to myself "I'm the juggernaut biiiiiiiiiiiitch"

If you have ever seen rugby and just how much brutal hitting occurs in that game, I think these guys will be fine. Its technique they need to improve on, I wouldn't question their toughness.

I guess I'm out of the loop. I was in Hawaii for a couple of years in the early 70's...but I don't remember Samoans being lazy or overweight...at any rate, having pride in your heritage and family is not wrong. How you go about showing that pride is what makes the man or woman...

There are a lot of Polynesians that play at BYU and live in Utah. For anybody who knows Polynesians, they are almost always the nicest, carefree, and most genuine people (not to mention HUGE). Don’t let that fool you however. When they turn the switch they are the polar opposite of nice. They become fiery, ferocious, and just plain tough and nasty when it counts. Think Troy Polamaluâ€â€nicest guy off the field, beast of a player on the field. Look for more and more “Polyâ€Âs in the NFL in the future.

Laid back on their days off, maybe. But trust me, I don't want to be on the wrong end of a Somoan's wrath. Especially Mauia. He'll run me over, then come and say "Have you seen my video?! I'M THE JUGGERNAUT *****!!"
