With all of the hype surrounding the trade with Dallas (#1 for #22, #28, Barber, and maybe a later round pick), I got to thinking that because we already have a crowded backfield as it is (Brown, Williams, Booker, potentialy chatman if he comes back) adding Barber didn't seem to add up to me (although I wouldn't mind having him).

What if this trade goes through, and we then trade Barber for even more picks, or to move down from #22 (or #28) back into the the low mid teens by packaging Barber and one of the picks and pick up a Sedrick Elis, or one of the top O-linemen?

I know trades very rarely happen (especially involving any of the top ten picks) these days, but who knows?

interesting theory. However, most teams would shy away from a player who was just traded being traded again, most teams in that scenario would think something was wrong with the player. More likely to happen would be Dallas trading Barber to someone else, and getting picks for him and then sending those picks to us in a deal for #1 overall.

I think a lot of this depends on Ronnie Brown's injury and how the team evaluates him come draft time. There is no gaurantee RB will fully recover right away from his ACL....after him we have a lot of backups who may or may nor even be here (Ricky Williams, Chatman). I like Lorenzo Booker, but Barber seems like a tough running back who breaks tackles and adds a little more toughness, so if we can bring him in I am all for it.

I agree. Adding Barber to the mix (if we can get him), even though he doesn't appear to be a need for us today, adds a true talent to our roster and bumps a less talented player off of it. Net result is we are better.

I think we are going to be a run heavy team next year to protect our QB , whoever it is, and continue to allow our OL to develop. BP likes having two legitimate starters on his roster at RB, and I think it's a smart approach. 16 games is a long season and it's just not realistic to think we can run Ronnie 30 times a game with no ill effects. Brown & Barber both run tough and the thought of being able to rotate them during a game against a tiring defense is tantalizing to say the least. It would also help keep our defense off the field, which for the next two years at least is probably not a bad thing.

Rb's are a dime a dozens look at guys Ryan Grant,D. Ward,E. Graham. I rather have M.Spears & B.Carpenter & picks instead.

I don't think Dallas will give him up, so the point is probably moot. But I do like the tenacity with which Barber runs... he reminds me of Ricky when he was running for the Longhorns.

Barber has shown the knack of pull out that fourth quarter back breaking TD run from long distance, similar to how Ricky did that in 2002

Barber goes straight to Detroit for Shaun Rogers. Detroit has already declared it won't be depending on Kevin Jones for anything. Barber is perfect for them.

There is a dearth of true NT's in this year's draft and in free agency. We are desperate in Miami for a strong nose. Nobody wants a player like Rogers, but we need him and so do a few other teams out there. We may have to send a young offensive linemen or LJ Shelton with Barber to get Rogers.

The only player in the draft with the physical ability to be a truly effective NT right away is Jason Shirley and he is a drunk.

I would acquire both of them and hope for the best because without them, our D-line may be a sive again.

This trade for Barber won't happen. Miami won't make it's two most expensive players tailbacks. Barber is a top 7/8 back in the league. You don't tie up that much money in 2 players, for them to only touch it 12 times each a game.

Wouldn't a 3-team deal make sense, or does Barber's expiring contract preclude that?

I don't know mate, if I'm honest.

It would make a heck of a lot of sense, I think, if:

- we could find another trading partner that needs a running back

- Parcells likes Bobby Carpenter and Marcus Spears

- there is lingering doubt about Ronnie Brown's knee. I don't know, haven't heard anything.

- there is, in fact, reason to believe that Jerry Jones not only wants a stud running back, but a former Arkansas Razorback stud running back. I'm not discounting this.

Jones' face at the end of the playoff game loss to the Giants- decimated, almost in shock. The face of an NFL owner ready to bust a move.

Boomer, while you're here- I saw a clip of S Thomas DeCloud of Cal- really impressive, it was actually a clip of a DeSean Jackson punt return. What struck me was how fast and quick DeCloud looked as compared to Jackson, it really surprised me. Good size, too. Listed as a 4.55 guy on NFLDC, that seems mighty low based upon what I saw, curious as to your opinion.

I sure hope that we trade down- I also want an OT to replace Shelton or at least move him to guard. I want Cherilius in the 2nd round- how do you compare him to Collins and Nicks? maybe Baker is an option, too. Cheers.

Does anyone have links to these trade rumors with Dallas? I haven't seen any yet...
