I was thinking about the Culpepper interview, and I remembered that when he was working out in Phins gear, we never got to see where his passes were being thrown or how far for that matter. There was even a part where he says, "This is for the Miami fans," and then launches a bomb down the field; however, the cameras didn't show us where the pass was going. We all know how Saban is about the media. I have some questions: 1) Do you think Saban had to approve the interview? If so, do you think he was involved in those aspects of the tape being edited out.

The reason I speculate about this is that knowing how secretive Saban is about everything (which I think is one of his best qualities), I think that he did not want the footage being aired showing Daunte planting and throwing those bombs as to keep the wraps on how well Culpepper is really progressing. Saban and Co seem very confident in Culpepper being able to start week one, I'm sure they will keep things under wraps to keep everyone guessing. Any thoughts?

Your getting way to in to this Saban does not want people to know stuff.
Culpepper has played before and will have to practice in front of cameras and stuff so that does not really matter.

This is by far the most complicated thread i have ever seen.
Your speculation are correct about the way Saban would love to handle the media, but ESPN is a very serious network that surely have exposed some info if Daunte weren't as well as showed.
By the other hand, DC was walking well during trial and his doctors are very happy about rehab, so i don't see any real thing to think that he won't throw as well as in his best moments with the vikes.

That is a very interesting theory, but I think that where the throw ended up just wasn't important. The segment was about his knee for the most part, and they wanted to emphasize the drop back and throw which puts strain on that knee. NOt the throw itself.

I just think it's great we have to think this way.

Somebody posted in another thread about this that the interview was promised by Daunte to ESPN before the trade, so Saban let it happen for that reason only.

from a broadcasting standpoint, it really isnt great tv to watch a ball flying in the air with no one talking, esspecially when its a sunday CONVERSATION

Does anyone know where I can watch this in it's entirity? I don't believe i've seen it before?

Maybe Saban has a key to Area 51 and the Government was actually in charge of how much land could be aired without showing some confidential information ... lol

I once saw Saban having lunch with Donald Rumsfeld...

sometimes i wonder what replaced these crazy saban theory threads when we were under wannstedt?

threads like these show the great respect we have for how saban is handling this team and wouldn't let anything by him...

:sidelol:

You just cracked me up...

He's a very confident, head strong, manipulative coach. We sure as hell are lucky to have him.

When I look around the NFL at other teams like the Vikings there are plenty of coaches that clearly are not in his league. Imagine Wannsteadt actually bringing in Dom Capers to be his Defensive coordinator, that would be his all time worse nightmare...
