I'm not sure if this has been mentioned: We have all heard the rumors that Lamar Gordon could be traded. I believe this is a real possibility given the fact that we have plenty of depth at the position. What I was thinking is, could the fact that Gordon was put at number one on the depth chart be a ploy just to increase teams' interest in him. Saban could be just trying to lure more teams into being more interested him, therefore causing a small bidding war for his services. Just a thought and not out of the realm of possibility. THOUGHTS?

I think its just because Ronnie isn't signed. Ricky is being punsihed and not given his old spot back. And Gordon is better than Morris and Minor.

Nothing more nothing less.

Possible. But a countervailing consideration is why would he run him with 1st team in camp when he could simply insert him at game time?

Interesting... but IMO I dont think so... I think he is #1 right now because he should be. Ricky is gunna have to earn his way back and Ronnie isnt here yet. Also, dont be suprised if Gordon starts in the HOF game... I am sure Saban is gunna try and showcase him and test the waters once teams have something to look at...

Nasty

The trade idea certainly may have some merit, but at this point it seems to make sense to have him no. 1. While it is not a "by default" thing in my mind because Sammy Morris was our no. 1 last year, Morris doesn't possess the skills to be a fulltime halfback, and Gordon does. Ricky will not come into camp as number one, Minor should be cut, and Ronnie isn't here.

i agree completely with your thoughts there socal 13 and i would'nt be shocked if wwe trade for another qb and it may not be with jacksonville there is a posiblility that we might trade for a olinman ,but who iam not sure so this is just a hunch.

by the way where the hell is master yoda did darth sidious cut off his pointed ears ?

Yeah. I think Saban will showcase him and see if he can garner enough interest to get that third round pick they gave up for him back. Gordon has some talent. He needs to be a more decisive runner, but he has some talent. A team that is in a position like we were in last season may give up a 3rd or 4th round pick for him.

not only is that a ploy, everyone is talking about how he will see so much playing time in the first 4 games so they can work a deal before the trade deadline but i believe he will see major time in pre-season compared to what he would mormally see and it will be with the better o-lineman on our team to hype him up and make him look even better, i hope he has a good preseason becuase then we can get a better deal for him

 Haven't seen Yoda in a while. Entertaining he was. :D

There is no way Saban is shopping Gordon. Look at what Saban has at RB right now.

He has Gordon, which has shown the ability to be a good player but he can't stay healthy and can't be counted on to stay healthy this year either.

He has a Rookie RB who hasn't signed and isn't guaranteed to get into camp in time to be a starter come opening day. Also the Rookie RB shared the workload in college and saban and the rest of us can only guess at how well he hold up over an NFL season.

Next he has a returning Rushing champion in Ricky who will not return until october. He has to keep his fingers crossed that ricky doesn't go up in smoke in the meantime.

Then he has Minor, Morris, and Kay-jay. Big woop!

We are not deep at RB yet. We are neck deep in potential, but its' just potential at this point in time. No way he trades Gordon unless a team comes to him with a good offer, but no way he's actively looking to unload Gordon at this day and time...

I agree. Gordon was thought of very highly when he came out of college. He was considered a solid RB prospect (not a superstar caliber). He played well in the preseason for the Rams.
Some Bills fans have made some ridiculous comments on this site implying that Gordon has no talent (or trade value) when compared to Travis Henry. The reason often cited is because he was 3rd string in St. Louis.
Last time I checked the Rams has Marshall Faulk and Steven Jackson. Not a bad pair. I don't think Henry could have beaten out either of those 2 and would himself have been a 3rd stringer.

Funny you mention that. It crossed my mind last night while looking at the chart. Especially after reading trade rumours. Remember though that Ronnie isn't signed yet, and maybe he just wants to ease RW back. The less spotlight the better?

It's possible.....but I feel a 5th might be more realistic.

And I'd take it in a heartbeat because we have good depth at RB.
