A thought that just clicked into me regarding Pace situation

I just came to think of this and i dono what type of sign this was that ppl seemed to overlook including myself. I randomly came across this thought in the process of doing a project for school (see waht the dolphins do to me?!)

Pace said he didnt wnat to join the dolphins b/c he didnt want to anchor the D and be hte leader of that defense and miami was willing to spend all that money on him so I figured clearly they dont see JT being around this year or past it (My feeling says he gets traded draft day) and no one else on that D is that ZT/JT type of person to lead or be a face of a D. And I tried to figure out who else woudl best fit that mold but all i can come across is C Long. Now id love J L and C L but I am trying to figure out who might have an edge and this thought seems to make some sense. Everyone said (scouts and team personel) that with 2 minutes left the one person they woudlnt want to face is C Long and also said that Long is a guy you build a defense around and has that leadership ability like ray lewis.

So i dono guys the jury is still out but if you were to ask me I think its 50/50 btw the longs but Chris might have a slight advantage at the moment. Either way i just hope we walk out of this draft with a very goot LT and a very good OLB along iwht a CB.

Wow, if he said that then I'm sure glad we didn't get him. All that tells me is he doesn't want or can't handle the pressure, and you don't want those types of players on your team anyway.

Either way it translates to: I'm just looking for a big payday and don't want to be a leader or take on a challenge.

In any case, I'm glad he didn't sign with us. Not that I think that what he thought was wrong (heck I might think the same thing in a similar situation), but it just seems like he'd rather follow than lead. We need guys that aren't afraid of a challenge and motivated to push themselves and others to perform better.

that is so lame. What kinda big time player shy's away from being the Man on a defense...sounds to me like even he is thinkin he might be a one year wonder! Like he just played balls out for one season to get a big contract and is now lookin to milk it. Glad we didnt get him.

Sounds like he knows whats up, he knows he finally showed promise last year with 7 sacks, his best year of 4, and knows he's not a star player so he took the pay check to let it ride as long as he can

My question is this:

Why would anyone fork over that kind of money for someone who doesn't want to be in a "leadership" position? That's what players should get paid premium coin for. If he's serious about earning a big money contract, then he should want that responsibility, not look for a situation where he can avoid it.
