You may not have a bet at all, if you bet when the game was scheduled for Sunday. Definitely something to check out. Call your offshore joint or bookmaker, or whatever.

If you bet it legally in the state of Nevada, the wager is almost certainly voided. You get a refund. The date change regulation kicks in. Almost every property states it must be played within 24 hours of the original scheduling. Over the years I've seen many people either tear up bets, or stroll confidently to the window to collect, when really the wagers are nothing but refunds.

Obviously, bookmakers may have entirely different perspective. I don't deal with them and can't guess.

Right now the game is off the board here. It will no doubt go back up soon. Once the new line is up, with the Friday timeline, those wagers will go, assuming the game is played tomorrow. Before the number was taken off the board, Miami was a slight favorite and the total had been bet down from the 43 range to as low as 40.

its back up on my book with the new time, miami - 1 1/2 43

yep. my book still has the 1.5 line with a total of 43.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I wasn't expecting a line change, just wanted to warn anyone they might not have a bet.

Las Vegas sportsbooks go out of their way to manipulate in their own favor, whenever possible. A few years ago there was a tennis rainout at the French Open, involving the women's final. One woman, an underdog of almost 3/1, was ahead a break of serve in the opening set before the rain stoppage, but of course on clay that means very little. Anyway, the Hilton sportsbook was flooded with money on the underdog and they got scared since she was ahead, so they applied the change of date rule and declared all bets voided. The other properties said the bets would go, despite the rain delay. Very properly, the original favorite came back to win the match, so the wimpy Hilton cost itself a chunk of change.

I didn't bet this week but here's the notice I got.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON THE DOLPHINS-CHIEFS NFL GAME
All wagers on the Dolphins/Chiefs NFL game placed prior to 1:15pm EST, Thursday, October 20th EST were NO ACTIONED due to change in date and time per house rules. A new line for the new date is now posted for betting.

Thanks, byroan. That's what I was getting at. It happens a few times per year but bettors don't always know they are impacted.

I guarantee after the game tomorrow there will be disputes here in Las Vegas. The sportsbook can't lose, because anyone who bet early and won will get a refund, while no doubt many people who bet early and lose will tear up the tickets, not knowing they are due a refund.

Some speculators must think we have the edge in the game being changed. I went out and checked a handful of sportsbooks. Many of them are now -2 on the Dolphins, including the Mirage. The total is generally 43, so the weather projection must be decent.

Here is a link to several sportsbooks and offshore joints. Our game is now atop the list: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/
