What has transpired this off-season, cuts/releases/signings, I believe was going to happen last year, but? I believe that this was all going to shake down following the '16-17 season, but Gase and comp. made the playoffs. So instead of trying to convince the fan base that this was necessary coming off a playoff appearance, why not see just how far this group of players could take it? Well, not very far, and the restructure of the culture/locker room/cap situation was indeed needed last year.
So here we are this season, sitting exactly where we should have been last season, better late than never. I for one like all their moves thus far. I believe we could have one of the better O-Lines that we have rolled out in awhile. Drake could be in for a really decent year. Take away 140+ targets to one WR and all the sudden you have Parker (stays healthy???) catching 20 more balls, Stills catching 15 more balls, and whoever the TE (draftee) will be catching 12-15 more balls, Drake/RB catching 10 more balls. Yes, all with Tannehill throwing them. Will this equate to a more balanced, more efficient offense? I do think we are much faster offensively now than we were last season.
Am I the only one that thinks this restructure was gonna happen last year, and am I the only one that thinks we could be one of those surprise teams in "18?

I'm with you on these moves should have been made last year..... BUT I'm not buying the our line is better this year mantra or the fact that now that Landry is gone, Parker, Stills and the TE catching more passes. Football doesn't work that way. They have to get open which seems like they had problems doing so the guy that was open got the ball. I heard Gase say several times that his offense is designed to get the ball to whoever's open. Apparently that guy was Landry way more than the other guys.

Most of that had to do with the OL and Cutler's noodle arm.

I'm on the optimistic train myself. I mean last year with all these "great players" we lost this offseason we were pretty bad. I'm hoping for a good draft with a seam threat TE and a stud LB i think we could be better offensively for sure and the same at the worst defensively with a possibility of being a more well rounded defense.

ALL ABOARD!!!! LOL

Majority of the targets will still be to the slot receiver, which instead of 1 player, now consists of a platoon between Wilson, Amendola, and Grant.

Hopefully a healthy RT will be able to get the ball downfield to Stills and Parker more often, but that was going to happen with or without Landry. Cutler was just that bad.

While I agree, we have to look at all the distractions and dead weight we have cut this year. We may have lost some fan favorites, but this team is finally becoming Gase's.

I think we are seeing the maturation of Gase more than anything else. He was saddled with Suh's contract and many problem players he did not draft. It has taken some time, but the future for Gase's ultimate team design is finally taking place.

Brighter days ahead. We all knew Gase would need some time to learn, but very few actually have the patience to endure the reality. Temper expectations and look further down the line.

More importantly, let's see how TB takes a back seat moving forward. Fewer splash signings is one sign. Managing our draft picks and our draft philosophy is the next step. Learning how to stay put in the draft, draft BPA and collect draft picks instead of burn them. These are signs we should be monitoring.

You have to change mindsets (FO and Coaches) and culture (players) at the same time. We may have some bad draft picks, but if we change HOW we draft then the rest will correct itself over time.

A year late maybe, but I think Suh's contract and a few problem children were preventing some moves last year. It is obvious to me last year was more about making a run for the sake of Suh's contract than anything else. Cutler's signing was to save the season. It didn't work and Gase finally got the green light to purge Suh.

Make no mistake, we should all be applauding Ross' belief and empowerment of Gase over the past year. If Gase proves to be the HC we hope he can be, let's not overlook how much Ross is standing behind his coach. There have been some big moves this offseason needing Ross' approval. While many may not like losing Suh or Landry, I think it bodes well for Gase getting the power he needs to be the HC we want.

Stop worrying about semantics and look at the bigger picture. Ross continues to spend big on his team. Gase has control. Hopefully draft management changes too.

We need time to correct the entire way of doing business. But we have a much different direction today than we did years ago. There were some prices to pay, but I think we are better off than we have been. It will just take a few more years to see the wisdom behind the true power shift that has occurred in the past year.

If you want a BB style coach, stop worrying about players and start focusing on the subtle moves made by the HC. We've got to get our house in order before we can truly succeed.

DILLY!!! DILLY!!!

I agree the jury's out on the receivers but how can you not believe that the OL is better than last year? Same tackles and clearly better guards. Okay, maybe at center, Kilgore is worse than Pouncey but probably not much. The backups are clearly better and deeper.

Now was the time to simply take our medicine and get rid of the me first players with the huge contracts. I feel we are already better off by a good margin.

Been saying this for a while, this was bound to happen sooner or later. We talked about this over the years about continually tweaking this team here and there and it was simply not enough. I like you believe that Gase had this in mind for quite some time.

I wish you guys were right, but if they had some master plan why restructure Suh? We are not taking some medicine, we have split our medicine between this year and next with our post June 1 cuts. On top of that we have assumed more bad contracts esp Wilson. We restructure Tanne. Who I love but could put us in the same boat as Suh if we draft another QB or Tanne gets hurt. Same mistake over and over again. I see no plan just darts on the wall. Hope we hit something.

Some of the OP assumptions seem wrong. For example, cutting Suh would not have been made a year ago because under the terms of his agreement, he was fully guaranteed $60M and had only played 2 years for us - unless you think it's astute to be forced to pay around $20M for a top DT just to cut him. With Landry, we still had him on his rookie contract for 2017. Why would we just dump him when he was low cost and still one of the best players on the team?

I was a little down after losing Landry and Suh and I probably won't book trips to go see games in advance this year but with the NFL having so much parity its very possible we could surprise this year. If Brock Osweiler sees the field for a significant amount of time we could be in contention for the 1 pick next season tho lol
