We near the worst in total D....in the league!!! Since I just read the article fom Andy Cohen about our stout Dline that would only leave the secondary, I know it's only preseason and the stats really don't matter, but something is not quite right with our secondary at this point. We seem to give up the big plays late in games against third teamers for some reason, and it seems Jason Allen is always the one lookin bad. I think holding out hurt him worse then I thought it would. I think holdouts need to stop.

No offense, but this means nothing. The Dolphins starting defense has only been playing the first quarter of each game. They have allowed only 3 points in two quarters. And we all already know that the backups on defense have problems.

So I take that back. This further proves that Miami's backup defense is having some problems right now, especially in the secondary where they keep giving up the big plays.

Definitely holding out hurt. It's more apparent this year because the holdout was at safety, which is secondary's QB. He's thinking about how the other side is lining up and making calls for the different coverages. Then add to that the fact that he's playing some corner too. It took Ronnie a few games to adjust to the speed and that was at RB (an easier position to transition to at the next level). I hope it doesn't take Allen too long to get the handle on this. I think he will a lot better in the Carolina game.

Dude, 2 games

No offense, but the only thing less important than preseason wins and losses are preseason stats.

This is just foolish. We have a secondary that looks like a M.A.S.H. unit. They're playing out position in what many people consider one of the most complex pass defenses in the league. It's only their second game and they showed marked improvement from game 1 to game 2. Drawing any conclusions about how a unit will play at this point is ludicrous.

please take no offense FTP, it's not at you.

who cares. If you have watched the games and read the analysis and comments you already know that stat is worthless. I seriously doubt Mr. Allen will ever again glance into the stands and with that change we would have had no big plays the second game. We will be fine...some bumps in the road, but fine by midseason.

Indianapolis, Seattle, Atlanta and even Chicago are ranked below us, those are some good defenses. I think that goes to show that these are skewed since it's mostly soon-to-be free agents allowing big plays.

most of the starters are hurt..what do you expect to happen

Uhh, guys!! Like it or not this isn't something to ignore. It is preseason but we are having issues in the secondary. Do preseason scores matter?? No, this isn't about the final score, it's about our secondary giving up big plays. Can it be corrected before the season starts sure it can and it's why we have preseason. This was an obsevation of where we are right now. I'm not saying the sky is falling nor am I stressing over it.

I'm simply looking at whats happened the last two games. Our depth in the secondary is as import as any position on the team and it's the depth we have thats getting burned, if you think this doesn't matter then you don't understand the game and the importance of backups. I'll promise you Saban isn't happy about it.

think of it this way feelthepain... we have injuries in our secondary, so that moves up usual 2nd string players to first string, and yet they have been performing fine... our depth there isn't bad, its just we are using our depth for starters, so now the reserves there are the really bad players...

if we had all our starters healthy, allen wouldn't be at cornerback in the 4th quarter... if daniels is playing, goodman is with the second unit and making that unit better instead of playing with the starters, etc...

its a trickle down effect... but even with the injuries our 1st and 2nd strings have been fine... i dont think its anything to worry about... and it was only 1 play this past game, 1 play... it happens... this game was much better than the first game in the secondary
