According to Smiley, that bullrush sack wasn't Long's fault

Nice to know that Long could not react to a player coming right at him. Still no excuse he got his but handed to him.

Well at least he was completely prepared and THEN got beaten.......
His eyes are over on the center's head and then all of a sudden he sees the center hike the ball and going back into his protection mode and realizes that he snapped the ball ealry and then he has to look back and find one of the premier speedsters in the NFL, come on tell me you can't see where that would be a disadvantage?
 
I dont accept that as a valid excuse... Just do your job and dont give up the sack

How about a disadvantage rather than an excuse, Long never said a word about it so he isn't making any excuses. He TRIED not to, by holding the guy, but they declined the penalty.
 
My feeling though is this is all minor breakdowns in the grand scheme of a season. It'll be worked out, or at least I'm banking on it all.

For those that criticize, what's the point?

Youre right.. No Jake never made an excuse (publically).. Whats the point of smiley talking about it now though.. So really he takes the blame form one player and puts it on another.. He should just forget about it and worry about then not doing the same thing against freeney
 
My goodness. Don't believe your lying eyes. Believe Smiley. It wasn't Long's fault. He didn't get owned straight up after both players getting off the line on the snap. Nope. Not at all. He had his head down and Abraham bull rushed him when he wasn't looking -- Long didn't get manhandled after looking Abraham right in the eyes. Nope!

Glad to know it was a mirage and Long really didn't give up two sacks and other pressures.

Phew! I was beginning to get worried. Thanks, Smiley!

Now perhaps you can enlighten us on the sieve in front of you?

I'm glad things are so slow in the NFL, heck anyone off the street could do it. I am sure i am even big enough to be a left tackle in the NFL. I have never heard that there are such things as close range speed and the ability to close very very fast, i think they call those elite rushers in football don't they? God i love sarcasm, it's great right? Isn't that right? Man i am glad they just let anyone into the pro bowl, you NEVER earn those type of accolades (insert Brett Favre comment here please) especially as a rookie. I am so glad Miami fans forget our 11-5 season so quickly and hang on to our 1-15 season for years. It's great. We have great fans.

Maybe.. Just maybe.. he was talking about something they noticed in film study.

Long himself.. has made no excuse.. That's good enough for me.
 
Why wouldn't any of you guys' responses be.....why won't Grove own up to it and take some heat off his fellow linemen. Shouldn't the response be then: Grove get it right next time bud.
 
The sack goes in Long's stat line.. case and point.. Now concentrate on freeney
