Achane or Wright

it will depend on how they use them. Wright needs to get way more snaps to justify using that 3rd round pick on him

I agree with this, Wright is more of he workhorse, while Achane is more of explosive weapon.

Think of Wright as the jab to the defense, with occasional power punch of Achane to put them on notice.

Around more or less 10-12 touches for Achane, and 15 to 20 for Wright.

Think I'm going to have to say probably the guy who has 23 td's over the guy who has none in the NFL.....

They could still draft a guy that could get more yards/ tds then both due to injury.

Achane should get the ball in his hands 15 to 20 times a game no matter who the other RBs on the team are.

As of now this coaching staff doesn't seem to be very high on Wright so I expect them to get a guy they believe in more, either in FA or the draft.

I respectfully suggest you are basing that on nothing more than body size.

Ability matters too.

Not saying Wright doesn't have ability but Achane has already demonstrated his, both as a runner and receiver at the NFL level.

Wright has not. Plenty of guys his size/speed have ended up having nothing more than a cup of coffee in the league.

I'm not discouraged with Wright and am sure he will get a fair opportunity to expand his role. At the same time, there must have been a reason in the eyes of the staff that he wasn't used more last season.

That being said, there were situations where I do think we need a different option than running Achane inside the Tackles against a heavy box.

Outside zone, though, I think Achane is the superior back.

Not going on size. In my opinion Achane is pound for pound the toughest RB we have, and if a defender does not quickly wrap up Achane, not only do they have to contend with his insane speed, or crazy sudden moves, but getting a solid piece of him is extremely tough, as he will run through the piece of uniform, or slight hold of him.

Ashane is a superstar, but he has taken a lot of shots, and so far both years he has had injuries. He is far more then just a RB in my opinion (And seems the coaching staff may agree, because they are working hard on making him a receiver...Or so I read). With the type of back he is, 10 to 12 touches as a RB is far better then most RBs getting 20+. Achane is always at a point where he is about to break one, but it's far more important ito get Achane in space.

Move him around, in the backfield, as an extra receiver out of the backfield or even receiver for some plays, make defense think sbout what Miami might be doing with Achane.

I agree that Wright still has a lot to prove, but he did show some talent last year, let him take more of the pounding, while Achane becomes more of the Chess piece that you can use in many ways, to help you get passed a stingy defense that does not give up many yards or points. Miami needs Achane more in Dec and beyond, then early in the season, so let Wright, or whatever new RB they draft take the pounding early.

I could see us use them like the Lions used Montgomery and Gibbs. By the 2nd half of games, Gibbs looked like he was shot out of a cannon as the D was tired out. Achane and Wright or another back could deliver something like this. Of course, we would need a line that could move people.

When Mostert landed in the doghouse for fumbles, it wasn’t next man up with carries going to Wright.

McD just gave the workload to Achane.

That tells you what the coaching staff thought and saw in practices.

Rbs typically shine early. Wright did not shine. Hope it’s not another waisted pick by Grier

Wright looked good at times w a mix of burst and toughness. Perhaps it’s just too hard to take Achane off of the field?

Smart money is on Achane. He's established as the primary receiving back.

If Miami can run block at all next year, Wright will get his opportunities, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him have a much better year.

It will never cease to irritate me that McDaniel didn't emphasize the run game more over the past couple years and set it up to succeed. I hope that changes in 2025, but...well, color me skeptical.

I dont think the issue was with Wright, I think it is more the coaching staff. We dont seem to use rookies much, unless injuries dictate otherwise.

Achane didnt get a ton of touches in his first year even though he was explosive when he did get the opportunity.

Our line was so damn bad last year that Wright couldnt really showcase his talents when given a shot. With mostert gone now and hopefully an improved oline, I think Wright is used far more this year.

Wright was limited do to not knowing the assignments in the passing game, should be good to go this season.

He only played 11 games in 23 as he was hurt. Carries wise, he AVG 10 a game that season. Comparison below.
