Achane or Wright

I dont think the issue was with Wright, I think it is more the coaching staff. We dont seem to use rookies much, unless injuries dictate otherwise.

Achane didnt get a ton of touches in his first year even though he was explosive when he did get the opportunity.

Our line was so damn bad last year that Wright couldnt really showcase his talents when given a shot. With mostert gone now and hopefully an improved oline, I think Wright is used far more this year.
IDK about the staff having an aversion to rookies. I just took a look at the last three drafts. One has to be honest. There isn't much to work with there in general.

Chop and Paul didn't start day one, but they were playing behind pretty good experienced veterans.

Achane only played in 11 games as a rookie, was inactive game one, then had 20 touches in game 2. Also bear in mind that Mostert was having a monster year. Achane didn't have a huge amount of snaps, but when he got them he also got the ball a lot.

I do agree that Wright will get more snaps. They would more than double simply taking the snaps Mostert got last season.

Definitely different situations. Achane had Mostert/Wilson in front of him and Achane was far superior pass catcher to those guys. Wright had Achane and Mostert to beat out for carries.

Wright did flash some early on as a runner like the NE game when Achane went down. Now the big concern is why the staff used him so little later in the season. Maybe dinged up? Or maybe it was a pass pro issue. I don't have time to watch all the film on Wright when he was asked to pass pro block, but nothing will get a young RB in the doghouse faster then blown pass block assignments. You don't have to be a great blocker but you absolutely can't just miss assignments. A lot of times that little chip that slows up a free rusher by the back is the difference between the QB not getting touched or straight up planted into the ground. More often then not pass pro is what will limit carried by young RBs. Unless they are absolutely head and shoulders the better rusher then guys in front of them.

I just found out that we drafted wright over Bucky Irving 😡
I hate Grier today more than I did yesterday

When Mostert landed in the doghouse for fumbles, it wasn’t next man up with carries going to Wright.

McD just gave the workload to Achane.

That tells you what the coaching staff thought and saw in practices.

Well they are idiots because the actual game tape looks different.

He was incredible early in the year vs the Pats and flashed in other games as well. Looked quick, decisive and showed great vision.

The first carry where he gets hit and drives the pile forward 2-3 is probably the only bring we saw that all year. Instead of letting him get carries and mature, we tried to run achane up the gut and proceeded to lose yards on 28% of our carries because we insisted on running a 170 pound back. Seems more like incompetence rather than something they saw in practice.

Achane unless injured. Achane clearly the better back to me. Maybe with more touches wright will flourish but Achane is a weapon that can be used all over. Heck he had over 50catches. He will certainly have more opportunities

I'm going out on a limb here and calling Jaylen a bust.
