In 2011, Karlos Dansby was not in the top ten for any major statistical category at the linebacker position in the entire NFL. These categories include combined tackles, sacks, interceptions, touchdowns, and forced fumbles. In fact, Mr. Dansby had recorded more solo tackles in his last two years in Arizona then he has in his first two seasons in Miami. So exactly how, or maybe a more fitting question would be why do the Miami Dolphins seem to breed underachieving linebackers who talk a good game but don't back it up with their play on the field?

Well I think it all goes back to Zack Thomas. He was arguably the most underrated overachieving linebacker in NFL history. He was the constant professional on and off the field. And most importantly he had heart and was a leader.

Now, fast forward to today and you can clearly still feel the void left by Zack. It appears to me that the Dolphins defense has all the talent in the world to be a force in the NFL...but do they have the heart? That IMO is still up in the air. And even though I like Karlos Dansby, I can't help but question his heart. Not his toughness, but his heart. Because if you are truly the best linbacker in the NFL, you don't have to tell us each year, you show us with your play instead.

So with that said, here is hoping the sam linebacker position brings out the best in Karlos, and hopefully he can show us all what he's been trying to tell the whole planet (or whoever's listening), that he is indeed the best linebacker in the league. So pay attention!

Great post.... In Karlos' defense : I do think the switch back to a 4-3 will benefit him, actually, I know it will. 3-4 ILB's can do little to get praise, unless they're ray lewis, ofcourse. One of the best vocal leaders *and showman* of all time. Every other ILB in history has been under appreciated. It's not a glorified position by any means. When they're name is mentioned its usually for a mis-read, missing a tackle, allowing a reception, etc. I do however think Dansby helped make our defense relevant again, along with the stout D-line *Parcells and Ireland* built. There's no doubt he's excited about next year and the possibilities it brings. It's time to put up or shut up. He's in his 30's now and will have to work extra hard to keep that contract !

Let's hope like hell that the switch makes Karlos have more of an impact ... especially considering his paycheck.

The image of Zach Thomas with grass stains all over his jersey and skinned elbows will pretty much always be my favorite image of Dolphins football.. ... until I remember the way Wanny squandered that defense.

Why must you ruin an excellent memory by naming Pornstache?

I'm sorry but the back sides of those 2 gals just leaves me unable put together coherent thoughts. What was the topic? I apologize.

Fictional thread when comparing Dansby to Thomas .......

You have to trade him now. Karlos is griping about Nolan landing elsewhere.
Everyone should know by now a rebuild is going on.

Wow, so much fail in such a short comment.

First off, I didn't even remotely compare the two. Just because I used both of their names in the same sentence, doesn't mean I was comparing the two. Both are two entirely different players all together.

Secondly, it makes absolutely zero sense and is frankly nuts to even slightly entertain the idea of even suggesting in the least trading the best linebacker on the roster at this point in time.

And finally, I really don't think we're rebuilding. Look at it more as a project in progress.

This is exactly what my beef with Juan Karlos has been since he signed. If he doesn't pick it up this season and lead, I would ship him out the door.

Do we really need to pay someone
$12,800,000

for 103 tackles
2 sacks
1 interception
1 forced fumble

Rookie Mason Foster for Tampa ($501,000 salary)had Dansby like stats
84 tackles
2 sacks
1 forced fumble
1 interception

For those extra 19 tackles over the course of 16 games we paid
almost 26 times more in salary to Dansby

Sorry but he is playing
way under what his contract is paying him
when you can get a rookie with the same production for 26 times less salary

Great point!

You listening Karlos?

And could you imagine what Cam Wake thinks about the situation. And if you're a fan, think of the impact that could have on his play... not a good situation at all!
