Great football player that was very much missed. We talk about leadership that seems to be lacking. Albert going down did not help that matter. It also shows that Hickey and Philbin must find FA's that have leadership in their "DNA".

Finally, happy that Beasley pointed out that a swing OT was never sufficient put on the roster. I whined and begged all offseason to find one and it was never really filled and really hurt the season.

When he comes back he will be 31, I think? Coming off a major injury, I would hope nothing would change, but I am skeptical.

most tackles can't play both sides so this "swing" thing is bs...it's very rare that a tackle can play both sides and do both at a serviceable rate...there aren't many jawaun james out there which is why he's so rare and should be all that more appreciated by us although it's obvious which side he's better at right now...i stress right now

most depth tackles or 3rd tackles are guys that can play guard and right tackle but would suck donkey nuts if put on the left side...then there's guys like david bahktiari of the packers who when i was evaluating him as a prospect looked like he only fit one slot...left tackle...i doubt he could man another position on the oline

that's why when it comes to a 3rd tackle a guy like orlando franklin should be so coveted...he can start at guard for you and shift out to right tackle should you get an injury and we have james that has shown he can be serviceable at both...it's also why if he comes free it's a no brainer

but the "swing tackle" thing is bogus

The swing tackle is bogus, eh? Ryan Harris could have been a swing guy. So could have McKinnie. Marshall Newhouse has filled in Cincinnati. Marcus Cannon is a "do everything" back up for the Pats.

You can solve the issue by having some players along the line being able to play different positions like you describe. However, I dislike your plan because if injuries occur you start rearranging all the positions on the line. I would rather plug a player in and leave as many linemen as possible in place.

Different philosophy.

you are talking out your rear again...mckinnie was no swing tackle...sure you can put guys anywhere you want but most of them couldnt even begin to play competent on both sides

interchangeable is not that easy...there's a reason guys are projected as left and right side as prospects coming out...and not "swing tackles"

marcus cannons not playing left tackle and newhouse was so good the bengals went out and signed eric winston...those are more 6th o lineman in certain sets and cannon hell is more right tackle and guard...dire straights isn't the same as competent play on either side

McKinnie IS a swing tackle. When Albert went down, he could have gone to LT and James stay at RT. If James went down, Garner or Turner could have gone to RT.

Yeah…I am "talking out of my rear" again…coming from Ryan Tannehill is Tom Brady with legs. Give me a break. LOL. I like RT and think they should build around him, but that was one of the silliest comments I have read on this site.

yeah tannehill sure sucks doesnt he...only the best player on the ****ing team...what a whiff on my part...anyways mckinnie is no swing nor was he ever...with miami or minnesota...so fail once again from you

BTW, I support the idea of signing Orlando Franklin at OG. However, that is because he is a fit at OG. True, in a pinch he could go to tackle…however, it is my philosophy to keep as many linemen at their positions they have practiced and played at for chemistry's sake.

franklin played right tackle for denver up til the last few years...admittedly better at guard but still played a serviceable right tackle as a starter if not a little better even than that...so once again you are off the mark

keep moving hayden...

Never said, RT sucks. I have supported him. Does he need to improve? Yep. Has he made he share of mistakes? Yep. Has he frustrated me? Yep.

However, he is the best thing going for this team. He has improved each year and I would invest him longterm. I never have wavered with that.

Calling him Tom Brady is hyperbole. RT is a solid young QB that keeps getting better.

I will gladly keep moving. Nothing worse than arguing with someone that thinks they know everything and have nothing to learn.

Couple things.

We dont play the dirty azz Lions for quite some time.

Turner needs to be a Tackle. Chances are that Albert will be hurt again and hopefully in a capacity that means only a couple of games here or there. I am tired of Tackles drafted that they try to make into G's and vice versa. Turner in my mind is a Tackle!!

Get pure G's and train them to be such and nothing else. Get four of them if you have to! I better see two undrafted types.
