One of the first lessons Adam Gase taught his new quarterbacks when he took the job as Dolphins head coach was the concept of fast feet.

He came in with a handful of ideas for Ryan Tannehill, but this was one of the top items on his list. What he saw on film from previous years was a quarterback who needed to get in playmaking position more quickly and have a better feel for traffic in the pocket. Speeding up the amount of time Tannehill spends on his drop-back, for example, increases the time he has to make a decision and fire the ball out.

“Playing fast with my feet has been the biggest emphasis since we started this year,” Tannehill said. “Obviously there are times where I want to be faster. But that’s been a big emphasis for us, and I feel like I’m getting better.”

Everything’s been better for Tannehill lately. His pristine performance in Sunday’s win over the 49ers was the best he’s looked all season and he’s stacking up the best stretch of his five-year career. Over Miami’s six-game winning streak, he has nine touchdowns, one interception and cumulative passer rating of 104.7.

A young, raw qb has suddenly started to flourish once he has recieved good coaching and been put in a position to win? Weird!

Side note - the PBP hired 2 new fins beat guys this summer and I really like both of them

They do a good live show on facebook before and after every game - well worth watching

And? Tannehill is still not the finished product will probably takes Gase multiple years to finally finish the job

4 years of **** coaching did little to address the raw issue

I think the point was....he had limited college experience(1 1/2 years)....and has been thru multiple coordinators and systems in a short time....and with the poor o-line play he's experienced has not been fully developed.

he's middle of the pack when it comes to age for nfl starting qbs

With QBs playing at a good level up to 40+ years of age, I fail to see the relevance of your post. In NFL years, he still IS young.

That and he still looks pretty young.

Raw is not the right word. He is certainly not raw at this stage of his career.

However, he still has not hit his ceiling.

At 28 if Tannehill has truly "turned the corner", he has a solid 10 years left to give us. Considering the amount of abuse he's taken, I'd say realistically more like 6-8

Tannehill looks really comfortable and confident in this offense. He has more poise and calm in big situations than he has ever had. He can prove himself as a top 10 QB in this league if he continues to play this well down the stretch and gets us into the playoffs.
