Adam Gase’s Twelve Steps to Rehabilitating the Dolphins: Step 4

some of them sack are on thill17 too. he hold ball to long. does not see blist coming. it doesn't matter you only got about 3 sec to get ball out. these DE are fast now. for example Wilson, buy time in pocket, thill17 don't buy time in pocket, so it lead to sack. that why we have lots of short pass. 2012,13,14 as bad as our ol may have look we still had chance made playoff. our offensive has problem again some defense not all defensive just good one. so this ranking is kind of bs and it don't tell real story of line.

Ironic that you think it doesn't tell the real story, yet to to paint the qb as the main issue

I really want see how good our new head is this yr...9-7 would make good turn around for dolphins

To state the obvious, we now need stats for other QBs to see if Tannehill is at fault for statistically more sacks than other QBs.

Football Outsiders did the analysis in 2013: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2014/2013-quarterbacks-true-sack-rate

That article paints a pretty clear picture. To top it off, there is another site that showed Tannehill was among the quickest in the league in time to throw. So, despite tailoring the offense to quick passes, they gave up a miserable 43 sacks due to blown blocks.

I have no reason the believe that the last two season would be different.

If Dallas Thomas makes the team he'll be a healthy scratch every week.

Here is a PFF article on time to throw (can't find the year, likely 2012): https://www.profootballfocus.com/signature-stat-snapshot-time-to-throw/

Tannehill was 4th quickest in time to throw and 3rd shortest in time to sack.

Again, someone would have to tell me what changed to begin thinking that Tannehill is suddenly at fault for an disproportionate number of sacks.

PFF had (past tense) a stat for all sacks attributable to the QB. IIRC, 4-6 was about what PFF had for Tannehill.

Those two stats together are simply a mind-blowing picture of the entire Philbin years and what he subjected Ryan to. That and peeing blood.

That is what people are failing to recognize. Under both Sherman and Lazor, Tannehill was one of the quickest to release the ball and STILL was the most sacked. The worst part is that far too many of those sacks came with only 4 rushers. Add all that up and Lazor still passes 70% of the time out of predictable formations with no audible system. Go Fins!

Ive done other evals and looked at the evals PFF has done. Tannehill is responsible for about 6-8 sacks each year, which is on part with other QB's. Due to the o-line being the cause of so many though, his % of him being at fault is lower than other QB's.
