does anyone believe that the losses of Pouncey, Suh and Landry will add wins, leadership and better players this season? Will it add better quality plays? What I mean by plays, is that Tannehill no longer has a "blanket" 4 yards out, he is forced to ( as well as the construction of the offense) to think more vertically. As for Pouncey, who notoriously had to sit out practices, now has us with potentially more consistent line at practice and through the games. Does the loss of Landry, help develop Parker and dae I say, Carroo? Maybe use Grant's speed or Ford for those screens? Finally, with Suh gone, does that "ego" relieve the play of a Phillips, Taylor and Godhaux? Now can we get better run d from an Ayers?

I think:

Landry: The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Miami will miss Landry more than the Dolphins thought, particularly in early games. And Landry will miss Miami more than he thought, particularly when he doesn’t get all those slants and bubble screens.

Pouncey: Totally agree. I don’t think the OL misses a beat; I think they get considerably better. That left side of the line could be flat-out nasty, and should hopefully learn to work together quickly with the ability to practice together.

Suh: I really have no idea.

In order of my degree of thinking I am right;
Pouncey: We will definitely be better with Kilgore getting snaps through out August (as well as the stability of all 5 starters already known). The importance of OL practicing together has been mentioned in articles for years.
Landry: he made catches and gained yards but did not change games with wins. I expect longer plays now than the short safe throw.
Suh: Talent not being replaced so it depends on how much gain we get by any locker room negativity there was and how Godchaux and Taylor advance. He was commonly double teamed and that is a worry I have for the DL

All 3 are gone and nothing will bring them back. Time will tell if those were the right moves.
I'm ok with Landry going as he wanted too much money
Pouncey should have been gone long ago
As far as Suh, we'll miss the snaps he played but we'll see how the D-line does overall

Will their release add wins? who knows t this point! saying that however, Gase likes the team he has now....I trust he knows what he is doing.

All three had too high of a price tag to keep around, given what they brought to the team. Pouncy's injury propensity made the $ a moot point. Aside from the ridiculous amount required to keep Landry, an offense that runs, primarily, through a slowish slot receiver will never be a perennial playoff team. The Suh contract was too much to carry going forward. That FA signing was a mistake from the beginning IMO. Unless Suh was able to single handedly take over games, we were not going to get our moneys worth. I don't blame him though. Hard to dominate 2-3 guys at a time.

We lost the two most talented players on the team in Suh and Landry. Suh took up all of those double teams. I really don't know if our guys we have can replace that. Landry was Tannehill's only consistent receiver, his safety blanket when everyone else was covered. He seemed like the only guy that played with any heart last season. Pouncey was good but injured and overpaid. Will the guys they replaced them with step up? I'm unsure. I still feel like it's subtraction by subtraction right now.

Suh is a fat **** no. Our defense got worse, and looking a last years that’s almost impossible.

Landry, depends, will Wilson and DA replace him? Probably, will they become a blanket for Tannehill like Jarvis was? Only time will tell. Wilson can do everything 14 could with the ability to go vertical.

Pouncey, **** yes.

Suh is the one loss that concerns me, there is a big drop in talent at DT. The defense was improved everywhere else so hopefully the overall impact won't be so much.
Amendola and Wilson may not match Landry's numbers but they are two very good slot receivers and we have already seen better character. While Landry is taking pot shots at his former team mates, Amendola is writing letters encouraging all the UDFA's.
Going from Pouncey/Bushrod to Kilgore/Sitton is a tremendous upgrade and having all 5 positions set before camp will be a great thing. Stability and continuity is everything for the O-line. Pouncey sitting out practices during week caused mistakes on Sunday.

Losing Landry hurts a lot. Yes, he wanted too much money, and yes, I too agree with not paying him that kind of money... but we went and spent that exact same amount of money on Wilson and Amendola (not a good tradeoff IMO)

Losing Suh also hurts. He's a beast.

Pouncey? Now there's addition by subtraction. No more head bobs, broken hips, or cocaine parties... hopefully.

IMO a more critical relative gain or loss that trumps those 3 is whether the present iteration of the OL proves to be upgraded to at least "average." In 2016 Tannehill's clean pocket QBR and long ball accuracy were at league elite levels. If the OL does its job, the vertical game will take care of itself and the running game will reap the benefits. Personally I'm more concerned about the loss of our "money" kicker than about Pouncey and Landry given their replacements.

What are we going by? Add wins based on the 2016 season when our QB didn't suck donkey testicles? So add wins on top of the 10 we won that year? Or add wins based on the Cutler experiment in which it would have taken a 2000 Ravens defense type performance or Eric Dickerson type season circa 1984 to win at least 9 games with good ol Jay.

Would Kilgore, Wilson/Amendola, and a Suh less defense add any wins to the 2017 Miami Dolphins with Jay Cutler under center? Probably not, might just win less games.

There are a lot of reasons to believe that our team has gotten a lot better, Tannehill, McMillan, Quinn, Minkah, Gesicki, Sitton, Wilson, Amendola, etc., and yes, even addition by subtraction in the locker room. But Suh isn't that.

Suh is subtraction by subtraction I'm afraid.

We just have to hope the drop off can be managed by better play in other areas whose salary was facilitated by letting Suh go.
