i really think the NFL needs to look at the way they calculate interceptions to quarterbacks and develop a new system.

if the ball is deflected by a player on the same team as the quarterback, the quarterback is not credited with an interception because at that point he has no bearing on the flight of the ball, instead the deflecting player is credited the interception.

this would be similar to the way errors are counted against fielders not pitchers in baseball, because as a pitcher their isnt anything you can do if your fielders suck.

this would make Joey seem a much more effective QB, and Daunte as well for that matter.

but this could probably wait until Brett Favre retires, right?

I dont agree, simply because many times its fault of the quarterback that threw the ball so bad that the receiver can reach it with its fingers only.

aLL I WANT 4 now is the nfl to make overtime ncaa like, this nfl score first is a freaking joke.

stats are horrible for football due to the fact the eleven people have to be on the same page for a play to work. if you take away the 4 interceptions that are disputed as to who's fault it is, Harrington has a QB rating of 82 which puts him around 10th in the league. If you were to add the catches that have been dropped on him he's probably looking at a QB rating of 87. Football is a funny game. No matter how good you are your success is contingent on 10 other guys. He's not as good as 10th and he's not as bad as where they have him rated now. The best way to gauge a players value is to just watch the game

A couple reason I don't see it happening. First, many times the pass is catchable but still it isn't a good pass. Seams to me alot of the drop we see and blame the WR alone for are throws that I think might of been thrown to hard by the QB, especially if the throw is just off abit and requiers the reciever to adjust. Always looks like the WR's fault but in fact is at least in part the QB's. I believe Joeys 2nd int sunday was like that-should of been caught but also could of been thrown to his man in stride.

2nd reason is a selfish and egotistical as these guys are they would start pointing fingers and trying to blame others.

You start to open a can of worms there. Should they also not count it as an interception if the QB throws the ball where he's supposed to and the receiver slips or runs the wrong route? Or if the elements change the course of a pass?

Who is the arbiter as to whether a pass that was tipped was legitimately catchable? What if the QB should have never thrown the pass in the first place?

The coaches know who truly holds responsibility for interceptions. The stats are just an approximate measuring stick for fans and media.

I was always told, "Whatever you touch, you catch!" <-- By the way, I'm not yelling at you. They just always yelled it at me.

Hey should we count the YAC that Sammy Morris had that boosted Harrington's pass yardage total to what it was (was a little dump pass). . . c'mon people, the man had 3 INT's . . . plain and simple . . . if he was more accurate on ALOT of his throws, he could have had possibly 6 TD's . . . he did nothing to negate those 3 INT's even if 1 was not his fault and the other was tipped as well (Hey Mcnabb started with like 3 INT's and came back and had 3 TD's to make a game of his mistakes . . . Joey had 2 gimme TD's, people act like he marched us down the field or something . . . one was setup by the JT Forced Fumble and the other was the Sammy Morris one). U can't be picking and choosing what stats you want to keep because it effects the player u like.

I am in agreement with new OT rules tho, the NFL is truly the "No Fun League"

Personally I could care less about stats, You can learn alot more about a player by watching them play than you can staring at a paper representation of the way they play.

Does the QB get the TD or completion if it's tipped by someone and still caught by a receiver?

My thing with the NFL is the players should get paid week to week. Are we in the "working " world paid at our interview for the whole year? Hell no we are not. If we don't work we don't get paid (unless we have some sick time). These players are paid too much as it is but if we dangle the money in their faces, it will make them perform to get paid. If you don't play you shouldn't get paid. Maybe the Dolphins would have more wins if this was implemented because these guys haven't the heart to give it their all.:tantrum: :dolphins: :dolphins: :tantrum:

Nah this is why players get cut and offered less money, u can't have that kind of economic system in the NFL or any sport for that matter, are u kidding?
