I'm the Man in the Box
First off i would like to give props to BB for standing up to local bully Jim mora(More on that later) Lets Start with the Jets this week.
Jets
Out
RB Derrick Blaylock (Ankle)
QB Jay Fiedler (Shoulder)
QB Chad Pennington (Shoulder)
Questionable
FB B.J. Askew (Ankle)
OLB Eric Barton (Ankle)
Probable
RB Curtis Martin (Knee)
DT Dewayne Robertson (Knee)
Mosty good news this week out of the Jets camp... Despite reports blaylock should be back come December. He was operated on this week to ahve a screw put into his right foot. With him out expect rookie cedric Houston to get some carries especially with a struggling Curtis Martin(2.7 yard season avg). But honestly can you blame him? The Jets backfield is the oldest in the entire league, but just like the Zombies they can still get you. Pennington is gone for the season, but the grumblings for him to take a pay cut are just beginning. Pennington has so far refused citing: "i played hurt, not hurt, whatever". Remember it's a privelage to watch chad, hurt or unhurt... Dwyane Robertson should play this week. Against the Bucs he had 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and 0 attempts to knock out Vilma. Thusly he was named AFC defensive player of the week... You have to give props to the jets for a hard won win against the Bucs. Only one team came out fighting, and the scoreboard showed which one.
Bills
Out
DT Ron Edwards (Shoulder)
Questionable
WR Roscoe Parrish (Wrist)
Probable
TE Tim Euhus (Shoulder)
G Chris Villarrial (Abdomen)
SS Coy Wire (Thigh)
The Bills didn't suffer any injuries last sunday, except for one to J.P. Losman's confidence. The bills played a good game and took advantage of their opportunities. The offense under Holcomb was efficient. When the run game was lacking Holcomb started with the short passing attack to compensate. Unluckily after half-time they were all but in-efective once again. Still unable to score a TD in the second half for the season. For the upcoming game it will be very important to stop up the run, a feat the bills have been unable to do all season. If there was ever a chance for Curtis martin to get 80 yards (Lets just start off low) this would be it. The bills have an excellent secondary, but if a team can run the ball why throw it. (1st against the pass, 31st against the run). Losman will be sitting until the bills start losing again. The Job could still be his, especially when the dolphins not only lost, but they gift wrapped it and sent it first class. (18 accepted penalties, 2 fumbles, 3 INT). It also helps that the bills for the first time caught their own mistakes(6 fumbles, lost 1).
Patriots
Out
RB Kevin Faulk (Foot)
T Matt Light (Ankle)
CB Chad Scott (Shoulder-Placed on Injured Reserve)
Probable
OLB Tully Banta-Cain (Knee)
QB Tom Brady (Shoulder)
WR Troy Brown (Foot)
ILB Matt Chatham (Knee)
RB Corey Dillon (Ankle)
CB Randall Gay (Ankle)
DE Jarvis Green (Shoulder)
DE Marquise Hill (Ankle)
ILB Larry Izzo (Thigh)
OLB Willie McGinest (Finger)
CB Tyrone Poole (Ankle)
SS James Sanders (Ankle)
FS Guss Scott (Knee)
DE Richard Seymour (Knee)
CB Duane Starks (Thigh)
Kudos to BB for sticking it to Mora. If you missed it, last week Michael Vick was listed as probable all week before he was down graded to questionable on sunday morning. When confonted about it Mora admits that "i used every adavantage i could to reamin competative" Does anyone else need a confesion? We all know the BB hates the reports anyway, so of course he has listed every player that would be questionable as probable... Expect the league to crack down on BB, but do not expect more than a handslap against the falcons. Falcons owner Rich Mckay is one of the most powerful owners, and the most likely candidate for commisioner when Taggy goes away. expect players to be downgraded as the week progresses... CB Tyrone poole was back at practice for the first time in weeks. He could start this week or the next... The Pats placed injured CB Chad scott on IR ending his season...Kevin faulks broken foot is reported to be more severe than originally thought, even eareer threatening. As he has not been placed on IR yet see this as a rumor and nothing more...The pats signed former Miami starter Arturo freeman to their roster this week. Freeman spent the last few years in miami, and spent the preseason with the packers. He is best suited for the FS position... Seymour has yet to practice since the injury to his knee while plaing Full-back 2 weeks ago...Dillon is not thought of to be that serious as he returned to play after spraining his ankle. If he doesn't play the patriots only have 2 healthy RB's on their roster, not that they need them. The patriots defense has been leaking like a new orleans dike recently. Currently their D is rated 23rd in the league.(20th against the Run(114.8 yards a game) and 22nd against the pass(222.8 yards a game)). The patriots have been rebounding because of huge games put up by Tom Brady. Their running game has not been putting up yards, but have been punching into the goal line. It can no longer be said that this team does not feel the loss of its defensive veterans. Obviously they have been getting burned without their key players. But do not expect them to just give up. They have a veteran offense that can carry the D, just like when the D carried the offense. The bottom line is if their Defense does not step it up the game will rest on the shoulders of Brady. If he has a bad game the pats will lose. (Panthers, Chargers) If he has a good game they will win.
Dolphins
Questionable
CB Eddie Jackson (Hamstring)
OLB Junior Seau (Calf)
The Dolphins are still riding high in the water with no major injuries. Seau re-injured his calf and may not play this week vs the bucs. Donnie spragan should be fine filling in, as long as he doesnt commit another pass interference call on a 335 lb defensive tackle:fire: . Eddie jackson had to leave the bills game with an injury, and kiwaukee thomas and reggie howrd stepped in and helped shut down the bills in the second quarter. I doubt if he will play much healthy or not. The dolphins will get a boost this week when Ricky williams will make his 2006 debut. Saban has named them both Co-starters going into the Bucs game. You can expect that they will both be on the field at the same time. Ricky is back up to 225 pounds and should be ready to recruit some people for his Holistic Healing. (He will probably hand out cards to every person he hits)... Despite the talk about the two auburn backs their numbers are very similiar. Brown is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and 1 TD, and Caddillac has a 4.7 average and 2 TD's...It's starting to get fishy in miami with the lack of big plays in linehans system. During pre-season Frerrote was overthrowing his receivers, Recently he has been underthrowing them. Either Frerrote's arm is getting tired, or the receivers and him are not all the comfortable yet. At least when he was overthrowing they weren't getting picked off... Randy's number seem to be dropping off recently. But worry not. The Bucs Cover 2 Defense has trouble with covering receivers out of the backfield and TE's that split the seams between the zones of the CB, LB, and Safety. This could work out very well if the Three R's are ready all on the field. 1 mismatch is good, 2 is great, 3 is downright scary.
Thats all for the report, please reply to keep it near the top. Updates will be forth coming...
