Patriots | Team will miss Branch
Tue, 12 Sep 2006 14:50:57 -0700
John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/24/nfl">New England Patriots players are sad to see former teammate, WR Deion Branch headed to the Seattle Seahawks. "When you look at Deion Branch, he embodies everything we want in a football player," DE Richard Seymour said. "Everything we talk about, the kind of guy we want on this football team, he did as good a job as anybody of embodying that. It's a tough day for a lot of guys on this football team."

Could this be an emotional let down for this team that maybe expected his return to be a boost. If you look at Baseball and how when a team makes a big pickup it seems to lift the team as a sign the owners are trying to truly bring a championship IMO this trade sent a message to Seattle that we are going for it and the Pats that we are looking to stock up for the future not this year. I know Miami needs to focus on their own problems and not anyone else's but it sure looks like NE has lost ALOT of talent.

Good Point I was talkin with my dad the other day and he said that Coach Belichick said quote on quote " we make the recievers we make no names into all stars" So I thought to myself He turned Deion branch from a nobody to a somebody! wow but Hey I think the dolphins will recapture the AFC EAST Title this year

It has been reported that the Patriots are first in line to get Jerry Porter. A receiver who had 76 catches last season and close to 1000 yards.. With Brady I am sure he will be just as effective as Branch was..

I wouldn't discount the Patriots until the Dolphins actually win the division. Then we can talk

yeah watch they got a 1st for Branch and now they'll give a 3rd for Porter who will prove to be a better target than Branch ever was. I can see it now.

big difference in character - NE was so effective IMO was they had a team first attitude and solid character guys. How does Porter fit there especially at what 4+mil/yr. Branch is no steve smith but he is a guy you can count on - a leader - and a go to guy. he won't carry the team but he is a legit top end guy. Porter hasn't done anything long enough to warrant a comparison to Branch. Branch was a SB MVP - how can you get to be a better a target than that??

I thought Miami was going to win the division even if they did have Deion Branch.

sigh, you are prolly right, Bill always manages to find a quality replacement for less.

True, but as much as I hate to say it cuz I hate the pats, but they are still at 1-0 and us at 0-1. It's a long season but untill someone takes down the pat's they are number one

Man, that probably isnt far from the truth, and closer to 100% spot on....

Totally agree! You can't stake claim as the best until you beat the defending champ. I just hope this causes them to take a step back. Regardless Miami needs to step up and take care of their own business.

Well when Milloy was cut, everyone thought that was the end of the Pats. A lot of Pats players came out and said similar stuff. Whilst it may have cost them the opener that year, players have short memories. The Pats went on to win the Superbowl again.

There is no doubt that losing Branch hurts their talent level for this season. Stealing a first round pick from a team who may do a lot worse then they think they'll do (the Seahawks), gives them a chance to be a better team in the future (considering Branch may well have just played the final 6 games then left for nothing).

To be honest.. alot of people said that dillon was a trouble making malcontent. great bcak... but a cancer in the locker room. i think the Patriots organization commands rspect from players... Because they've been to the dance... and won. That organization has to be tops for alot of players. But i think NE has some pretty good tight ends already.. and knowing Bilicheck,,he may be happy to keep them at this point.

Theres also a big difference in physical ability. Besides, has Branch ever caught 3tds in the snow from kerry collins in one game ?
