No. 2: Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins

Analysis: Here is where things get interesting. In this ranking, I'm deferring to last season's "Sanchez-Fitz-Moore Watch" for at least one year. I held an open competition in 2011 to determine the No. 2 quarterback in the AFC East, and Moore came out on top fair and square. Moore was the most consistent quarterback. He made 12 starts and was solid throughout. Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Buffalo Bills were so up and down last season that you have to choose the player who is more consistent. But was Moore a one-year wonder? Is Moore even good enough to keep his job and win Miami's quarterback competition overDavid Garrard and first-round pick Ryan Tannehill in training camp? The No. 2 slot in this division might be a revolving door, but Moore has earned it for now.

Finally getting a little recognition. Interesting that Sanchez is ranked ahead of Fitzpatrick

he was basing it on last season, Moore played well in garbage time the 2nd half of the year and had the "best" season of the 3. Let's see if he can do it from week 1.

Man I was hoping for something a little more saucy to turn this into a 20 page thread

Based on last year I'd say he was indeed the #2 QB. He's no offensive juggernaut, but QB actually became one of the strengths of our team even though he still has a lot to learn. Hell he had 3 games with 3 TD passes which is something Chad Henne found impossible. #3 is a bit of a toss up - Fitz and Sanchez were turnover machines, but I'd give it to Sanchez since the team as a whole was better.

Actually he did it with zero first team reps.. So he actually deserves more recognizing than the story gives credit for. Sanchez played worse with all that training and first team reps. Glad to see people in the media are finally seeing the truth, and that is that Sanchez is either the 3rd or 4th best QB in the division.

A nice way of saying that Moore was the best of three average QBs.

he did it w/ zero pressure to win too, when he had a chance to help keep the dolphins hopes alive he failed miserably, once Miami was out of it he played well.

You could also say he started to play well once he settled into the offense. No offseason, no first team reps and thrown to the wolves after Henne got hurt. Does take some time to get comfortable with the players around you and build some chemistry.

The Dolphins will make the playoffs

It's possible...

I don't buy b/c he did the same thing in carolina, w/ pressure to win he failed, w/o it he played well. Henne went through the same thing in '09 but he played better early and helped Miami get back into the playoff race before ultimately failing.

I think Matt Moore is a perfect backup but I want to see him play well from day 1. If he does I'll change my mind, until he does he doesn't worry me at all.

All the props in the world to Matt Moore. He did a great job even though it was Henne who got all the practice during training camp with the 1st team.

Glad to see us getting recognition. Sanchez SUCKS!!!!!!!!

Moore had no first team practice reps; he still ended up the same .500 as did Sanchez, except he closed the season 6-3 vs Sanchez working off a base of 8-5 and imploding against 3 teams who were at or under .500 when he faced them in games 14-16. Moore had to rally a dispirited team with fans in the stands actually booing when they scored; Sanchez had absolutely no pressure because he was coddled, as 2 of their offensive stars confirmed and enabled; with a playoff berth in site, he should have been removed if there was anyone other than an AARP-carrying backup. So either way, either Sanchez being enabled felt no pressure, or once again he wilted under pressure losing to 3 sub .500 teams per below:
