AFC EAST - Time to take back the division

We all are well aware that they Dolphins are in the midst of a 4 year playoff drought. Most are probably aware that we haven't won the AFC East title in 5 years...........but what I was suprised to discover was that we have only won the division 3 times in the last 20 years (1986-2005)!! That's unbelievable to me considering:

- NFL's all-time winningest franchise
- 2004 was our 1st losing season since 1988
- 9 playoff appearences over that span
- Playoffs 5 straight years from 1997-2001
- Most AFC East Titles all-time with 15 (twice as many as any other team)

We only have the one division title (2000) over the last 10 years!! Even the Jets have more (2). :fire:

Here is the breakdown of AFC East titles -

MIAMI - 15 ('71, '72, '73, '74, '77, '78, '79, '81, '82, '83, '84, '85, '92, '94, '00)
NEW ENGLAND - 7 ('86, '96, '97, '01, '03, '04, '05)
BUFFALO - 7 ('80, '88, '89, '90, '91, '93, '95)
BAL/INDY COLTS - 5 ('70, '75, '76, '87, '99)
NY JETS - 2 ('98, '02)

Well the early/mid 90's the Bills had a stranglehold on winning the division(hence the 4 super bowls), and the Patsies had/have that now(hence thier 3 super bowl appearances).

Right.........and we haven't had a stranglehold on the division since the early 80's. It's about time we got it back!!

I would love to get some division titles, especially if that means we can get a run of superbowl appearances too.

This should be our year to take the division back. wow, I didn't realize how long it's been since we won the division. We finally have a great running game and passing game at the same time. When was the last time that happened? It's been many years.

Somewhere around the Perfect Season, I think. That should be telling.

Not to mention the AFC East was like the strongest division in football for a good number of those years.
