Here it is everyone. Pyper's very first AFC Playoff Predictions Thread.

Seeds:

1> New England Patriots (16-0): When Tom Brady goes down in midseason the Patriots turn to Corey Dillon and their swarming defense to save their season. Dillon responds by rushing for over 2100, breaking the NFL's single season rushing record in the process. The Patriots will also lead the league in both total defense and pts allowed. Doug Flutie will fill in admirable for Brady and although the passing game will struggle some, the running game and defense will be strong enough to compensate.

2> San Diego Chargers (12-4): Marty Schottenheimer may take abuse for his dismal playoff record but make no mistake about it......The man CAN coach. He gives the Chargers a clear advantage over each of his fellow AFC West counterparts. The Chargers will prove that 2004 was no fluke.

3> Jacksonville Jaguars (11-5): This shouldn't surprise anybody who's been paying attention. Del Rio has this team heading in the right direction. Thev've been quietly establishing a reputation for clutch late game heroics. That's a prerequisite for any great team. 2005 will be the year they make improvements in the consistency department.

4> Cincinnatti Bengals (11-5): The wait is over!!!!! Whatever loyal Bengals fans remain after all of these frustrating years will finally be rewarded with a playoff berth. It's been a long time coming. It's hard not to root for these lovable losers. Pre-Kraft Pats fans can relate to this.

5> Indianapolis Colts (11-5): The defense improves and at times this team will look unbeatable. But against good teams in BIG games, Manning and the offense will continue to struggle.

6> Miami Dolphins (10-6): The Dolphins are the surprise team of the AFC. Saban proves what we all should already know by now......COACHING MATTERS!!! Gus Ferrotte revitalizes his career and Miami capitalizes on down years from the Jets and Bills, two of their AFC East rivals to steal the last wild card berth away from teams like the Chiefs, Ravens, and Steelers.

Wild Card Round:

JAGUARS over Dolphins: This will be an ugly low scoring slug fest that the Jags pull out at the end.
BENGALS over Colts: This one will become an Instand Classic on the NFL Network. Lots of points and big plays.

Divisional Round:

PATRIOTS over Bengals: Corey Dillon has a field day, rushing for over 200 yards, against his former teammates.

CHARGERS over Jaguars: The Chargers deny the Jags an opportunity for another last second win by blowing them out of the building.

AFC Championship:

PATRIOTS over Chargers: The Chargers lead the Patriots for most of the game but Flutie delivers one more magical moment for the good people of Boston, delivering a 46 yard Hail-Mary TD pass to win it on the last play of the game.

Super Bowl XL:

After spending most of the year on the sideline as the UNofficial offensive coordinator, Tom Brady returns to action in the Super Bowl and calls his own offensive plays as the Patriots record the first shutout in Super Bowl history..............38-0 over the Arizona Cardinals. Brady wins MVP for his performance.

Doug Flutie retires the next day and is forever remembered as the man who saved the dynasty.

A day later the skies open up and GOD comes down to tell all the little talking monkeys that he is in fact a die hard Patriots fan and that Pyper is a very wise man.

LMFAO great story but the undefeated season overdid it and I think you should of let Flutie win the SB himself. Great player and thats the only reason all cheer for Patriots in playoffs if they make it there.

Patriots 16-0? You serious?

Why not?????? They've gone 28-4 over the past 2 seasons, not including the playoffs. Please, don't talk about their losses, becuase they've overcome enough for me to belive they can overcome anything. I hate the patriots but won't be surprised if they are the first team in NFL hostory to 3-peat. The AFC just stays the same year in and year out. and they are still the best team.

The Colts, probably the 2nd best team in the AFC, have so much money tied up in their offense, which can only muster 3 points vs NE when it counts, that they will never build a good enough defense to win a championship.

16-0....:rofl4:, If Brady gets injured they are screwed..Flutie might help a little but not much especially since he's like 41. Brady is one Patriots player who is irreplaceable on the team. And win another superbowl?.. maybe but the odds are really against them, no team has ever won 3 straight since the Green Bay packers won a Championship just before the birth of the superbowl, and then won super Bowl I, and II....I don't think so. They wish they could be perfect like the '72 Dolphins.

Flutie can't start the Super Bowl. Didn't you catch the irony? It's an undefeated season. Flutie is playing Morrall's role and Brady is playing Griese.

There's a difference between a 3-peat and going undefeated. The Pats wish they could go undefeated. I don't care how good anyone thinks they are, they won't go undefeated.

Undefeated? :roflmao:

Ravens don't make the playoffs...meh this is the last time view this thread. My heart can't handle all the laughter...

I doubt there will ever be another undefeated team. Not only beause of the salary cap and free agency. Also, with the defenses are getting tougher, running the ball is becoming harder and the depth is just not the way it used to be. If Czonka goes down, nobody has a Mercury Morris to tahe over. You used to have Montana and Young, now you have Feeley and Ferotte. There are always going to be injurys, there are always going to be tough, physical defenses that take pride in going for the knees and there are always going to be Monday night games in hostile stadiums against pissed off 2-11 teams;)

speaking of the undefeated season...how much of a joke would it have been for last years pittsburgh (15-1) team went undefeated...
