...where does he rank on your list of favorite head coaches in franchise history. Sorry, but you knew this question was coming eventually, so I might as well be the one to ask it...

Obviously The Don is number 1, but I would seriously consider ranking Campbell as number 2, even though he's coached just 1 game. I love everything about the guy.

The scary thing is I think I would rank Sparano number 3 :foundout:

I have only ever known Sporano and Philbin

So yea, clear no1 for me for my era

Ya it's early, but:

1. Shula
2. Bowles
3. Campbell

If Dan coaches to a winning record, for himself AND the team, this year, CLEAR #2. As for personality, #1.

Youd put Bowles's 10 mins here above Jimmy Johnson?

Question: if you are basing your rankings on results, how in the world would you rank Sparano ahead of Jimmy Johnson or even Dave Wannstedt? The team had a couple of playoff appearances under Wannstedt, including a playoff win, and never finished below .500 except in 04 when he was fired mid-season.

Two coaches with a combined 4 games coached are 2 and 3...smh. Neither the head coach for a single draft or in charge of a single off season program...that's ridiculous.

The team also had a much talented roster with legitimate Hall of Fame-type players in their prime during the Johnson and Wannstedt years. Name 1 Hall of Fame player that played for Sparano, besides Jason Taylor, who was in the decline of his career and Ricky Williams, who was a shell of his former self by that time.

Also, Jimmy was the beginning of the current state of the Dolphins the last 15 years. The way he stripped Marino of what he did best (audibling), the way he forced his buddy Wannstedt onto this franchise, the way he desperately tried to stubbornly become a running team, despite having the best passer of the generation, and failed miserably.

Yes, Wannstedt's teams had some good records, but a case could be made that they should have won 11-12 games almost every year and yet they'd always find some way to finish 9-7.

I don't know how this question can be reasonably answered at this point. I thought Sporano was the real deal after 2008. Saban after 2005. I thought Wannstedt had figured it out after 2000.Campbell's body of work is one game. I am really pulling for him, and I really like what I see, but to create a list of former coaches and to even include Campbell after one game is silly.

That goes to show the crap that we have to choose from after Shula.

Getting ahead of yourself I see. Can't rank a coach based off of 1 game

To me there is Shula, maybe Johnson and then a bucket of mediocrity. Let's see how Campbell stacks up, is he going in the bucket or is he going to take spot 2 or 3? IDK.

I'd rank Campbell one slot ahead of Cam Cameron right now (0 losses vs 15 losses), as all the other coaches on the list have won more than one game.

Larger sample size is obviously needed

Wanny won alot of games. If you base rankings on wins Wanny is probably the clear 3rd best coach

What's ridiculous is the trash that was trotted out there between.

Shula was coach when I was a kid/teenager. I'd have to put Dave Wannstedt after him only b/c he had minimal success. Sparano is 3rd b/c of the fluke playoff season.

Cameron can bite it. Philbin can inhale it. Bowles wasn't here long enough. Jim Bates wasn't here long enough in the HC role. Jimmy Johnson had high expectations and didn't do ****.

Campbell can't be fairly judged after one game. I'd have to give you that answer at the end of the year.
