After all the drama this past week one thing is for sure...

looking at the new depth chart, we do need a solid veteran receiver. chad is gone and we are " moving on ", so if we are going to go with this current roster of WR corps, a veteran is needed. Not to be our #1 receiver, but to give these young WR like pruitt, wallace, bj, matthews a diffrent perspective on the game then a coach can. He doesnt need to be a big name like plax, or evens, but how about a tj howsyomama? (houshmanzadah). He, of course is past his prime, but was a pro and for the league minimum, ( which is what chad was getting) im sure we can atleast give him a look. If anything he can be a mentor on the field. Players might tend to listen more to players with experiance then coaches. just my opinion. he's just a name , m sure this sight can find others out there...but who???

Wouldn't it be nice to bring in Jerry Rice as a WR coach and just find the talent in the young guys? Always liked Rice on the field and off the field he would be a great mentor for the young guys and i bet he could teach them a few things. He was familiar with the WCO also.

We should have signed Braylon Edwards....anyway, they will roll with what they have unless someone interesting gets cut in the coming weeks.

Look for receiver to be a very high priority in the next draft.

I say just roll with the young guys and see what they can bring to the table this year. Then make receiver a high priority in the offseason if these guys on the roster don't pan out. I would rather see them not waste a roster spot with a stop gap guy over a young guy that has potential.

Good players do not always mean that they will be good coaches. Trust me, I am a Knicks fan and watched Isiah Thomas screw things up.

If this is the case, do you honestly think Joe Philbin would keep a player around that
would listen to players with experience over coaches?

Now if a decent player becomes available and with Hartlines lingering problems then you kick the tires.

obviously you must have never heard of coaches seeking leadership in the locker room... a player who can take that young player and help lead and mentor him is what is needed. it's kinda hard to listen to a coach say "wallace you have to catch that ball going thru the middle dont worry about that linebacker or safety about to crush your ribs" if he himself has never felt a safety crack your back a few times. A player can say I've been hit the hardest, by such and such, try this out or do this. A coaches game video can tell you where to run, find a spot, but cant explain to you how a ray lewis crack back hit across the middle feels.

And yes bess has 5 yrs experiance and LN has 6yrs... but they can only give them pointers on there experiance...one is a undrafted player who found a way to make it, and the other is a journey receiver who has a few decent yrs. if this is who you want to lead and mentor your young WR, then you have no ambitions to succeed.

Being on his third team does not make him a journey receiver, he actually had his best year last year with the panthers.

And being an undrafted player obviously means Bess could never teach the new guys anything. This thread is beyond horrible.
