After dealing with the initial shock of losing a prospective starter there are big issues at hand. A dried up market for corners, a rookie pool that has dried up, Roundtree recovering from injury, and Howard, Haw, and Edwards the real candidates now (Mitchell is likely to be on IR). Leaves me with visions of a long season. We shall see if Daniels is up to the task.
Ray Green and a couple of street free agents were at the rookie camp. Not encouraging. Antwan Rogers is about the only name corner that didn't get drafted. He is from Purdue.

Any suggestions out there finheaven world?

Guys, it ain't like this was Jason Taylor. Come on.

Was Poole good? Yes. Is he THAT much better than Reggie Howard or especially, Travis Daniels? NO!

This is a new system, remember. There will be so much less pressure on the defensive backs because of all the pressure we will be getting on the QB.

It sucks, but we'll be fine. I think ya'll are going to like Travis Daniels A LOT. He already knows the system, too.

I agree, the system is different, but...

I agree that the defense is different, but it is also a numbers issue. Most teams carry at least 5 corners. If you remember, Saban actually referenced being short on corners at the rookie camp. Now he is really short on corners. Madison, Edwards, Howard, and Daniels are there, but nothing much afterwards. Roundtree is recovering from injury, Haw was limp at rookie camp, and Mitchell tore an ACL in a workout before the draft. Ray Green was a person at the rookie camp, but otherwise, not much else. Something has to give here.

I agree...he is not a Big name players and w/ Daniels and Howard we are in good shape

Agree totally, not good for the team but Howard and Daniels are decent and Daniels knows the system. I too think he can be successful in the NFL, he was monster for LSU's champtionship team, he had a better season that year than 2nd round pick Corey Webster CB LSU..
 
Some other corners will be signed soon

Some other corners will be signed soon just to have proper mini camp. They do not have enough to practice with now as is. I do not know who is out there. Law is obvious, but he is not able to work out now anyway. Antwan Rogers, a rookie corner from Purdue was not drafted or signed. Otherwise, I do not know of any other viable options just for signing.

Lee2000 ps. I look for Ray Green to sign. Anyone know if Jamie Henderson, previously from the Jets, has signed with anyone.
 
First thing we need to do is calm down. I think we've spent a good 3 solid months in bliss -- it's been all good. All positive.....and this is the first thing that has really put a dent in our bullet-proof armour so far.

It's not THAT huge of a deal. It would take our whole defense to produce solid form for Poole and now he's gone, sure it's a disappointment but we can make up in those areas. We beat the Patriots without Z.T. didn't we?

I've just heard this news so it's still marinating but I'm downplaying it. I know we have options, I know Saban won't be panicing in terms of "THE SEASON IS LOST ALREADY". We'll pull together as a team, fans, media, players, coaches all alike and lets do this!!

I agree with you. Its just like you said, "3 solid months in bliss". I wasn't ready for this kind of dissapointment just yet. Give it a few days or even a week or two, and we will all be over it. Saban will sign another Corner and will be ok.

Amen....and I don't want to say it -- nor think it, but it is very likely that some time this season we'll suffer a bigger loss than this so for at least right now -- what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger :D
 
Do you guys think we are gunna sign another CB or do you guys think we are fine? I think we are gunna have to. T-Buc and Law are the only 2 FAs i can think of... are there any others?

ps... i am really disappointed... i was really looking forward to seeing this kid playing this year :cry:
