Yes yes I know he's banged up often, I'll get to that...

Steve McNair is almost definitely going to be cut this off-season as the Titans plan on moving on in their rebuilding process and hopefully Lance Schulters and Kevin Carter can convince him to come to Miami. He's still a damn good QB, is putting up a decent year with a brand new OC, a depleted and very raw receiving core, an underperforming aging OL, and a very mediocre running game. He's tough, is a good leader, always puts up over 60% in completion percentage, low interceptions, and plays through injuries. If he came to Miami he'd have an improving OL, more experienced offensive weapons, a possible outstanding running game, an offensive system that matches his abilities, and Ronnie Brown's blocking that really helps reduce injuries to QBs. He's not done at all...

He'd start in 06 just turning 33 and then also in 07. The point? So Miami doesn't have to draft a QB in the 1st this year if the players isn't there. This draft is too talented to blow on an overrated pick. 07 however looks to have much better 1st round QBs, but not as much talent elsewhere. Just in case Miami will draft a developmental QB in the 4th round this year.

Hmm....you could be on to something. I'm still for taking a QB if theres an intruging one avaliable in the 2nd round on, but McNair would probably be alot better than a Kitna type player, who I'm personally not sold on.
I wonder how much longer he can take a beating though. I respect the hell out of him, but there comes a point where his long term health becomes a issue. He may have played hurt too many times to be effective much longer.

We would also probably have to keep Gus or another veteran around as insurance so we don't throw a rookie into the fire if something should happen.

But it is an interesting senario you bring up.

he would fit linehan's system well. i don't think he'd come here if there's a rookie QB in the wings, though

That's the point though. If we just pick a mid round QB it's no big deal, the year after that we'll pick the "franchise QB" and that way we can say to him he'll definitely have atleast two starting years if he's healthy.

I don't really mind keeping Gus as the backup. I mean that's what he's good for basically...

i actually agree with you. getting him and drafting a mid-round QB would be nice. i like McNair, and even though hes always banged up, he seems to always play for the most part.

he could do for us exactly what Bledsoe has done for Dallas. This idea has been mentioned before and I liked it then since Im a big proponent of bringing in vets rather than drafting rookies and paying them while theyre still young and struggling.

It's very similar to that, however McNair is quite a bit better than Bledsoe in my opinion. He can do everything Bledsoe can and can actually even at this age avoid the rush somewhat. There's no point destroying our franchise QB.

Honestly at this point I think our OL is becoming much improved. Our sacks are down from 37 to 14 at this same time last year. The run game is working when we have a chance to use it. McNair is better than Bledsoe I was just using the analogy thats all. But ive always loved McNairs toughness. There's probably not a tougher Qb in the game and that is one of the most overlooked qualities in a qb. Things like that inspire your team to do better; receivers know they better not have alligator arms when your qb is getting lit up just to buy you that extra millimeter to get open.

No I perfectly understand what you said and I agree. Titans fans are pretty much unanimous that McNair is probably gone. With him at the helm and atleast on the field(he plays even when hurt obviously), we'd stand a very good chance next year since the Jets offense basically has been destroyed, the Bills relatively competitive, and the Patriots the Patriots.

more crappy qbs coming down here...keep it up you guys.

The 2003 Co-MVP is a crappy QB? Somehow I don't think you'll accept anyone other than God as QB...

we already had god as a qb and some of these people couldnt even deal with that.

With McNair @ Qb, a couple of Db's and another wr we'd be a serious playoff threat.

Not a bad idea at all. He has progressed so much thruout his career. It would give the front office a lot of options if they could land him without breaking the bank.
