Let me start off by saying that I thought that Ferrotte outplayed Feeley by a considerable margin tonight. I think that he will be the opening day starter (right now), and I have to admit that I was very, very impressed with his play tonight. He demonstrated great confidence, poise (especially behind our shoddy-looking O-line), and passing ability. How that will translate into the regular season is another issue all together, but tonight he was very good.

That said, I think if I read one more post simplay saying that "AJ sucks", I'm going to rip my hair out. He played just fine. Several of his throws were beautiful, right on the money (including that one dropped pass by Thompson). He still locks on and he still looks a bit lacking in confidence, but overall he looked like a better QB compared to last year. Not to mention, he had much less time to prove himself. He threw 7 passes, but Ferrotte got a lot more chances. People who have these knee-jerk reactions to Feeley's play borne exclusively from their hatred of him should be banned.

I agree with everything you said....but I think A.J. starts opening day.

I've spoken until I am blue in the face tonight already about A.J. tonight....and I am weary of it...

I think (for my personal sanity) I am just going to ignore every Feeley related thread from this day on...

You and me both.

I agree. Had DT caught that pass he would have been 5 of 7 for about 80 yards. He did not seem to be bird dogging the recievers to bad and even made a few checkdowns instead of forcing hte ball into tight places. He is rusty just like everyone else. Ferotte did outplay him though.

Feeley just looks too rigid or something. One play, he is right on. Then when we have a breakdown somewhere (such as will happen from time to time) anything can happen it seems.

Feeley reminds me of Rick Mirer.

Feeley played against more blitzing. He has a stronger arm than Frerotte. Feeley threw 1 ball into the line to avoid a sack; it was a dangerous play. He had no TD's. He did not show sufficient progress tonight over last year.

Frerotte had a couple of weak throws, and a couple of strong ones. A noticeably weaker arm than Feeley though. He has a stronger arm than Fiedler, but is less mobile.

It's way too early to choose a winner in this competition, but Feeley better throw a TD next game, or this competition could be over sooner rather than later.

I completely agree, and I will admit I am a big fan of A.J. Feeley, but he was outplayed tonight, plain and simple. HOWEVER he in no way play poorly. He should have been 5-7 for about 75 yards. He made some nice throws and I think he made a really good decision on that pass where he threw the ball at the line because he was being pressured, he saved a sack. Frerotte did very nice, even if it was against the 2nd string defense. I think its funny how everyone is jumping to conclusions already on how Feeley sucks or hes the same as he was last year, gimme a break, let the guy get more playing time first.

Again, I said that I think that Ferrotte WILL start, but the jury's still out on who I think SHOULD start.

Ferotte know the offense better but several of A.J.'s passes were right on the money. Thompson should have caught the one that went right through his hands for a first down, but again this is preseason.
