Akeem Spence To The Fins

Everyone can relax we keeper our 7th round pick, we sent them the one we got in the Landry trade
It doesn't matter. It's some people's desire to come to finheaven just to complain.

Per PFF:
Grade: D

Akeem Spence has played his way to the bench after being the DT alongside Gerald McCoy in Tampa Bay. His pass rush has largely been absent, but as a nose tackle, his role was more of a run stuffer anyway, but his grades against the run have been poor as he has found himself easily moved at the point of attack, and he has yet to top 20 defensive stops over a season.

In Miami, he'll be reunited with former Lions defensive line coach, Kris Kocurek, who accepted the same position with the Dolphins in January.

its a great trade for depth & contract & compensation....he will be serviceable for Miami as depth even if Phillips leaves next year we will still have depth.

Anyone who is upset with this trade is just going to be upset no matter what we do. It's like a sickness with Dolphins fans.

True. On at least 2 fronts.

Prolonged sustained losing (and/or under-performing) breeds contempt.

Negativity amplifies itself.

This is like posting someone's opinion on Tom Brady before Drew Bledsoe went down.
He played for the lions last year.
Actual role in 2017
2017 stats: 16 games (11 starts): 39 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 1 forced fumble
PFF grade: 76.7 (65th of 122 interior defenders)
Spence, as expected, entered the year as a minor player in a rotational role on the defensive line. However, when Haloti Ngata suffered a season-ending injury, Spence was suddenly thrust into a starting role.
To his credit, Spence never relented that role and ended up having the third-most playing time among all Lions defensive linemen—behind only Anthony Zettel and A’Shawn Robinson.
However, Spence’s play was very up and down. He’d go weeks with little-to-no impact on the game, and then show flashes of being a potential starter. All that being said, the Lions’ run defense clearly took a step down when Spence took over for Ngata, and that’s ultimately how his 2017 season will be remembered.
