Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post reports the defections of linebackers coaches Jim Reid and George Edwards would open the door for Bill Parcells to hire Al Groh once again.
The idea of a Groh-Parcells’ reunion has been floating around ever since he the University of Virginia fired him. But now there are a couple of openings that would be a good fit for him.

I would really like this move.

May be a good idea but Groh is another 60 plus year-old coach. I belive consideration needs to be given to bringing in some young blood to help the d coordinator with new ideas. Of course some better players would help as well.

I dont get it...You are over 60 and ppl call you old what about experience...

You get a young guy and ppl say you dont know what your doing cause your young and you have no experience...

I dont know about the new ideas thing...

This game has been around a long time..Pretty sure everything has been done before..

Groh is a heck of a coach IMO..If you can have him as a position coach that would be an asset to the team..

A younger coach isn't necessarily a better coach. You also have to consider that the young guy, if he's successful, will begin getting looked at by other teams for a positional promotion. Todd Bowles was interviewed for a promotion by other teams last year, though nothing ever came of it. Lezlie Frasier is a semi-hot commodity this year, and he'll eventually get a head coaching job somewhere.

Groh would be a good acquisition, especially for our OLBs. If we want to hire a separate ILB coach, I hear Zach Thomas is available...

Groh failed miserably at the college level. Previous to that he rode Parcell's coat tails during his assistant coaching tenures. Part of the good ol boy network.

Agreed, retreads - people that failed once before but after a few years people seem to forget and they get hired again.
It is for linebackers coach, they are not asking him to be a head coach here. So what is the problem with it?

"At Virginia, Groh has become known for his implementing a 3-4 defense, rare for the college game, and for maintaining his NFL mentality. After a 5–7 record in 2001, Groh led Virginia to four consecutive winning seasons and three bowl victories before another 5–7 campaign in 2006. He was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2007"

Yea real awful....a program that has done nothing he took and made a winning type program..

It did not finish well for him but he was not a failure..

He is also an NFL type coach not a college coach there are big differences

Bring in a younger guy, a players coach who current players can relate to.

Besides, the guy won't stick around for more than a year in as a LB coach, he's going to bolt at the first opportunity at a Defensive Coordinator once something becomes available. We need stability...

Well if Paul P is not the answer they have a guy like Groh who could come in and not skip a beat

BTW your sig is the shizzntt

Shouldn't the hiring of coaches be upto Sparano?

It should be Sparano's decison on who he hires and not Parcell's.It was Parcell's who forced Sparano to have Henning as offensice corodinator.
