Alain Poupart rewatched the game!

I read the article - thanks for posting. I posted yesterday many of these things - namely:

- the moment wasn’t too big for him
- he looked like he belonged out there
- he didn’t get much help (drops and pass pro)
- he drew 95 yards of PI

Kid was fine. He’s not Tua. He’s not Teddy. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a future. He’s a rookie. I’ve seen a lot of highly touted rookies play worse than this in their first outing / season.

And as coach said, I agree - it was good enough to win the game. Just needed a little help - Tanner Connor / Jason Sanders / looking at you guys

It is true McDaniel stated the Jets were playing pass defense and soft on the run…also not conducive for a rookie making his first start to excel.

This is where I disagree... It wasnt and its ok...
I meant like had we caught a couple of those balls and make the FG go up 20-19 the game is there. I really felt like the wheels came off after that miss - we had so much momentum as we were coming back.

Poupart is right on the money, especially when you consider the Jets selling out on the pass to try to shut Miami’s passing game down…the kid did fine under the circumstances.
Given that we know this now (the pass defense) it’s a bit odd we didn’t run more. As spuds pointed out we ran on every first down and got 4+. Then we’d pass on every 2nd down. I thought we should have committed harder to the run and forced them to come up and stop it. It’s the first time I questioned the way coach called a game so far

Good read.

Lot of truth in this:
'I think he was way on top of the game plan in a way that I don’t think typically I’m used to rookies being on top of. I think he was also frustrated with his play but confident that he ... it was more of like a frustration in the moment like, ‘My feet are messed up, that wasn’t the right timing.’ Overall, it’s exactly what I thought it would be where I left the game knowing that the game is not too big for him and that was probably if he has any say in it, that was probably the worst that he will feel like he’ll perform as a professional. And that was good enough to (almost) win. So I was very happy with the player because it takes a lot of prep and it’s a big stage that everyone isn’t up for.”
