Albert Wilson Back to his former Speedy Self?

To be honest, I don't even think Albert Wilson makes the team this year.
If Grant makes the team over Wilson, I will have to question the ability of the coaching staff to judge WR talent. In fact Bowden is already a much better WR than Grant. The only way I see Grant making the team is as a kick returner and I think Waddle is the best returner on the team and Holland would be as good as Grant, IMO.

The jury's still out, it's only the start of non contact OTA's. And hip ligament tears are really tough on a guy with Wilson's play style. BUT --if he really has his pre injury speed back - man, watch out for our receiving group! I kinda hope we can find a way to keep 7 on our active roster, but I know that would require sacrificing elsewhere.

I’m good with Albert on the roster. I’m also ok with trading him if we can get a 5th or 6th.

It’s a crowded group and he’s making some real coin but he’s got some serious wheels and presumably a healthy body.

The talent in this WR room is insane.
He has a good year...goes elsewhere, that could be a 4th comp.

With our injury history with WRs....Parker, Williams, Wilson, and you bring in 2 more Fuller with Waddle....we might be keeping 7. With their history, one or more might be on IR the start of the season anyway. BTW Foster makes it over Grant.

Remember Wilson came back late 2019 and started looking good, then took all of last year off... hopefully he was training all last year for this year

Big no no. You don't risk the team's potential #1 weapon on return.
Look it up, how did Waddle hurt his ankle at Bama?
I know how he hurt it, I don't have to look it up. That wouldn't stop me from putting him as our return man until he proves himself as a WR. A weapon is a weapon and should be used as such. If and when he proves himself invaluable as a WR then he stops being the return man.

grants stuck around for a reason, hes a hard working scrappy team first guy who provides good return skills, he should be the last receiver on the roster, not catching 60-80 balls a year...

my point about the opting out is one player wanted to go to battle with his teammates and the other took a year long vacation

wilson isnt significantly better than grant and hes injury prone, so i stick with the guy who had the heart and balls to suit up

im not all for grant either so dont get me wrong, im ok if we move on but if its between wilson and grant im sticking with the grant on his heart and return ability over wilson who was too scared to go to work and will only catch 20 balls and probably get hurt again anyway
I’m not sure how far heart and balls take you as a WR when you don’t have hands.

If we can just keep Grant in the role of 5th or 6th wr that would be ok. The problem has been when due to injuries or just lack of decent depth talent at wr and Grant has been asked to be Miami's 3rd or even 2nd wr at times. If Grant was just getting 15 to 20 targets per season I doubt anyone would say much about his 1 per season. Most of those targets would be on drag routes, out routes and bubble screens. You don't see many 5th and 6th wrs with more thn a dozen receptions unless their team has had a ton of injuries. For example Byron Pringle was the Chiefs 5th wr in terms of receptions and he had 13 on 17 targets. Last year Grant was Miami's 2nd most targeted wr and was 2nd in wr receptions. That can't happen. I don't think Grant makes Miami's roster in 2021, but if he did, Parker, Fuller, Waddle, Williams, WIlson ( or Bowden) and Grant as the last option wouldn't be horrible.

Let me say that I’m a Grant fan, but IMO the only way Grant makes the team is as a PR specialist. I think he gets traded for a late round pick or cut.

Good catch. I was looking at his game logs on pro football reference and he was active for 13 games that season, but really came on the last 3 games, where he averaged about 65 yds/game at about 6 catches/game.

Here are the highlights for probably his best game that year (vs Bengals- “the Tank Bowl”).

Be sure to check out the RPO slant from Fitz to Wilson for around 35 yards starting at 2:51.

Seems to me that he already had his speed back by then.

Yes, it was distinctly noticeable those last few games. I think there was a jets sweep where he made the LB look slow.
